When have I ever said I want him flying into tackles? You’ve just made that up. I said he wins the ball back and closes space, but more effectively. That in my mind is doing about 50% (being generous) of what a defensive midfield shock be doing at this level. He’s offers so little since he came.

My point is that people dislike Pelupessy becuase he isn't Hutchinson flying into tackles and breaking people legs.

 

As they don't see him do that they think he doesn't do anything. Which is untrue as you've pointed out. 

 

Like I said, he gets left alone in the side an awful lot which means he also looks out of his depth defending. He needs Jones or Hutchinson alongside him helping him. He gets overrun due to not fault of his own.

No, you’re just making things up. People don’t dislike him as a footballer because he isn’t crazy flying into challenges. They don’t like him because he is incredibly limited. A polite way of me saying sh*t.

 

It definitely doesn’t help opinion that Hutch is at the club not playing as he’s a better player. I’ll give you that. Same with Dawson and Westwood. For example I’m really not a Palmer fan, I didn’t rate him based on how I rate Hunt. I rated/rate him based on what job a fullback should be doing and be capable of. Some will make comparisons, which is fair enough, they will also form opinions based on Joey’s performance and what’s expected. Right now unfortunately he’s not been up to the task of a decent championship defensive midfielder.

 

I also agree he has been given a bit of a bottom because of the rest of the team not being up to it and positionally unaware at times. This doesn’t make up for him own short comings and the fact he just isn’t currently very good at this level.

Never faulted the lads effort but to be brutally honest he is a distinctly average league 1 player.

 

Someone suggested trying him at right back and after watching Palmer and Baker this season I have heard dafter suggestions.

No, he's constantly in the wrong place making the wrong move.  The final straw was him bringing 4 Canaries onside on what led to a goal yesterday.

Bannan 48 passes and only one key. Bearing in mind everything we do goes through him. That's a shocking statistic and shows partly why we are so poor.

Good point, but as we're singling players out. Onomah 41 passes with no key passes.

 

I'm not sure if your stats extended to passes completed, because if so I don't believe all of Onomahs passes went to Wednesday players. If Onomah is the future of English football then it's a fraud.

 

Do you have the stats for interceptions and tackles btw, because I don't think Onomahs top of those lists?

Whilst this is a Joey thread and he isn’t up to in my opinion, I’ve got to say that Bannan’s form has gone downhill over the last 6/7 games. He started the season extremely well but his form has more than dipped recently. In fact in some games he has been poor.

He's out of place as he having to do the job of 3 players, for example Saturday the can do no wrong Bannan's, the absolute gash Onomah's and his own.

Now go and look at his defensive stats. Average number of tackles, 6 interceptions, everyone else in the team got none. It's that kind of stuff he's in the team for, if we had others in the team capable of staying switched on all the time and doing their jobs to the ability of him then we wouldn't have lost our last 4 f*cking games in a row.
