@owlstalk
Who was the most exciting player out of these two? Who was the most important player out of these two? Which of these two could change the way a game was going and get a result? Who was your favourite out of these two? Owlstalk Shop
poite
Waddle. Hirst was a brilliant goal scorer but he wasn't as 'exciting' as waddle. Bit like comparing Shearer and Ginola

hawksmore
1 minute ago, @owlstalk said: Yeah but if you HAD to choose... This needs a lot of thought and will most definitely keep me awake tonight. The recent issues with young George Hirst have tainted my view of Hirst Snr and his legacy at S6, it's as if one of my parents has had an affair. I mean i still love them and all that they did and the joy they brought, but there is a bitterness there.
Bexy1977
Waddle was amazing, but Hirst was more exciting for me, especially in the 90-91 promotion season. very very close though Edited June 6, 2018 by Bexy1977
Inspector Lestrade
Enjoyed watching them both immensely, but I enjoyed watching Di Canio just that little bit more.

MaliceInBlunderland
After many seconds of painstaking research... ... I have come to the inevitable conclusion that I don't really know. All I can say is that whoever rated Waddle at a mere 66!!! wants their head checking. ps top trumps belong to my daughter (no, really, they do). cowl
Hirst, and I say that without much pause for thought. Waddle was a fantastic player for us too though.
Greengrass
Completely different players obviously, different games, different memories. Waddle because of the free kick against the Blunts at Wembley then, but close call.
theowlsman
Hirst without even thinking, and I love Waddle.

HirstWhoScoredIt
Hirst at his peak was unplayable and we’d definitely get promoted with him in the team.
The Dukeries Owl
We had David Hirst's golden years and the twilight of Chris Waddle's career so it has to be David for me.

spike1867
Hirst was my hero, I absolutely idolised him as a player. However I'd go with Waddle and here's why...when he won the football writers accolade in 93, there wasn't a finer footballer in the country at that time. I don't think Hirst could ever say that.
