Anthndav
Waddle. Chris Waddle 5 West Ham 0 For that game alone it's Waddle for me. Hirst was brilliant, but Waddle was world class and unplayable at times. PS. I do know Waddle only scored the once in that game. But it is testimony to his ability that it is such named. I have come to the inevitable conclusion that I don't really know. All I can say is that whoever rated Waddle at a mere 66!!! wants their head checking. ps top trumps belong to my daughter (no, really, they do). 66?! Surely they printed his score upside down? 31Dec1966
Not a tough call at all. Chris Waddle was a world class player. The only Wednesday player to be Footballer of the Year, a fantastic honour, in the same bracket as Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, George Best etc.

A world class player who had played in champions league finals, world cups etc yet had his best couple of years performance wise at Wednesday. Hirst was a fine player but ultimately was not at the level of some of the other strikers of his generation in the prem. I would take wright, shearer, Ferdinand, Sheringham over hirst. I wouldn’t have swapped waddle for another winger of that era To be fair to Hirst, Wright, Shearer, Ferdinand, and Sheringham all played for better teams. Had we allowed Hirst to go to Man Utd, I think you'd have a different opinion. As for the question, head says Waddle, heart says Hirst!
