#SWFC striker George Hirst absent today and U23's boss had this to say

What does it mean?

I’d much rather we play youngsters that actually want to be at the club, Chansiri shouldn’t have let him play at all this season after he made his demands of the club.

No doubt the Under 23’s were the last thing on his mind today, he’s got “bigger fish to fry”.

I’ll personally be glad when he’s gone... I’m getting fed up of hearing about him.

is this a medical condition?

In the middle ages it was used to stop people talking who were blabbermouths by sewing there lips up.

In modern parlance people say it who are desperate to be asked what they know.

FFS.

The amount of vitriol and snide empathy towards David Hirst is an absolute joke in this thread

It wasn't even the Hirst Jr situation for me though, it was the bellyaching over lost lucre/glory with Man Utd.  Fair enough.  Don't mean I need to hold him in some forced reverence even if he  did an amazing job for us.

Besides, Waddle was a million times cooler.

Semedo over both of them

Again, loads of vitriol on a subject nobody knows the actual details about.

The sooner this is put to bed either way the better and let's move on.

Statements like ' That's just the way it is ' only fuels speculation, just tell the truth FFS.

Exactly what kind of response did you envisage / hope for when you poked this particular hornets nest again.

If Jos persuades Mr C to let George play in the first team against Wolves, then persuades George he has a chance to get in the first team next season, and then we sign him up, with the offer on the table, then Jos will do for me.

Hooper, Joao, Rhodes, Foestieri,  Atdhe......Hirst.  I can't see the lad getting much game time unless we shift a few out.  I'm not saying he won't come good but if he's going to displace 4 of the others to get a start he's going to need to develop very quickly.

That's the problem with him sitting on his arris all season, if he'd been out on loan he would have had much more experience and a serious chance of breaking through. He still needs to test himself against grown up players before he can hope to hold his own at this level. I'd be happy to see him stay but I wouldn't want him to stay on the basis that he is going to be a regular first team player next year.

So, everyone thinks DC played a blinder in stopping Hirst from playing for us all the way back in August then?

Really surprised Hirst didn't immediately sign on the dotted line after that. After all, nothing says "you do right by me, and I'll do right by you" as much as stopping you from playing when you've got 10 months left to run on your contract.

I’d sooner see Nuhiu and Joao up front.

At the end of the day he’s not going to sign a contract to play for Sheffield Wednesday, it’s no good finger pointing and crying and blaming his dad or anyone else

the club HAS offered him a deal, he didn’t sign it therefore we need to move on just as much as the lad himself does

Why on earth anyone thinks he should be getting game time in the U23’s ahead of a lad like Borukov who will continue to be an SWFC player next season is beyond me, and I’m sure George and his old

man understand that aswell , is he aggrieved he hasn’t had a shot at 1st team ??   Sign a contract then

Definitely. Hirst might become a better player than both in time; then again he might not. Either way he wanted more than the club felt it could prudently afford. It happens. We move on.
