What complete and utter rubbish.

The opposition score after less than 2 minutes and that's a tactical failure? Mistake tackle, mistake setting up for the free kick.

You're one nil down and your game plan has gone and it's a severe body blow to the players.

Another goal due to players mistake 10 minutes later. Another mistake, not failing tactics. 2-0 and everything is in tatters. Game plan, confidence, morale.

Second half the change made us look like a decent team and produced a goal. No tactical failing there.

We concede again within a minute or two. Was that failing tactics or lack of concentration and another mistake by the players?

Another big body blow. Could any tactics recover from this?

Another player(s) error for the fourth.

The players let Carlos down and let us down.

Ive been a critic of Carlos on many things but you are right, the players let him down on Sunday. It was a complete an utter shambles. Defensively, the worst I have seen us for a long, long time. Normally, we are very sound and organised at the back but went to pieces after they scored the first. We lost our heads and didn't managed the occasion.

I thought the press conference was excellent from Carlos today - just what is needed. He was angry and you can bet that he has given a rocket to his players. I just hope that this springs them into action - I expect a reaction.

Its the gaffer's remit to put out a tactically sound, cohesive unit.

He can't just throw up his hands and absolve himself of any blame.

The players' performances are down to his man management, training and preparations.

So you blame the manager for the performances of the two centre halfs? Who, let's be honest, gave away 4 goals with their individual mistakes.

Two centre halfs who played well enough recently, were obvious selections and yet both had probably their worst game in a Owls shirt. How can that be  the fault of Carlos.

If we are to find a silver lining from the furore following the derby display, then it just might be that CC can add some of this fire into his motivational skills. Its hard to imagine he can become a Warnock, Big Sam, Pulis, Holloway type. He is such a stubborn bugger though, will/can he adapt ? . If he is so riled up by his players inept performance and he has told them so, they may react differently to him. It may just shake them out of their cosy protected world.

Words are all well and good, but its actions that count. We shall know more about our head coach and players by the time they walk off the pitch after the Leeds game.

If they weren't up for it, some in game tactical substitutions? Maybe being so bedrock beholden to a staid 442 will bite you in the arse...

OK, having watched it I have to say that it has made me mellow a little bit. And apologies to @OWLSTALK you were right, I should have watched it before commenting.

I was very please with the way that Carlos protected his players..... rightly so and really well done there from Carlos. I liked the way he handled the questions, especially the ones from Andy Gidding. I liked the way that Rob Staton asked his questions following the game on Sunday, they were difficult questions but they were put across well and they were the right questions. I dont know if Giddings was trying to follow the act but he seriously failed and frankly, Carlos made him look like a mug.

I like the way that Carlos spoke with passion and determination. I only hope that it rubs off on the players and he stays true to his word.

However, having said all of the above, I still stand by my previous statement that these are just words. Different words, more passionate words, but still words. Coaches, players, promising to do this that and the other but not delivering. Im more than happy to draw a line under it all but I now challenge Carlos to deliver. As fans, we will continue to give our 100% support but its now time for Carlos and his team of coaching staff and players to turn words into action and give the fans the promotion that we deserve. If you fail again, fair enough, but lets have no regrets this time.

So when would you  have subbed Lees and who would you have put there?

What has the formation got to with individual errors like those.Zilch.

Tbf I'd get annoyed with Andy Giddings every time I saw him.

Wednesday could beat Barcelona 8-0 and Giddings would irritate me.

From his stupid face to his stupid voice. Bloke sounds like he's got a permanently blocked nose.

Tbf, I've got a stupid face and a silly voice.

It hasn't held me back in life.

Successful teams all have season defining moments which shape their season for the better or worse

just look at Bruce’s headers v Wednesday, still talked about until this day

i just hope this is one of those times we’re we have a bit of self realisation and kick on

need to show some character, it could be character building for the players , may laugh now but long term might do them the world of good

I can see the logic in what he is doing. He was looking at the bigger picture even before the Derby and it makes sense to try and move on and not blow it out of proportion.

But he is burying his head if he thinks our players don't struggle with big games. Yes we won big games to get to the playoffs, but we bottled the top two challenge games, all the games we couldn't afford to lose bar Brighton away in the semis  (where we were fortunate not to be a few down in ten mins) and then this one which you simply need to go to war in at the very least. In my view, a more apologetic/frustrated conference should've taken place from CC on Sunday and then we could move forward. I think RS asked some sensible questions even if they are potentially disruptive.

I only hope this is a public protection act and a few home truths have been said behind closed doors because Sunday was a furking shambles and a point of embarrassment until we give them a good stuffing some time.

The players show commitment hey? Yeah they prove that, not just on Sunday.

Its no wonder the players wanted him to stay on because they are immune from crisitism.

Even after watching that, I don't want this guy in charge of managing SWFC, people will say very passionate speech and all that, let's face reality, tomorrow it'll be the same negative approach, as it has been all season and the previous. Nothing is going to change, he tried justifying his approach in the summer.

Carlos, nice guy but not the man to take this club forward.

I liked it.

Had a go, stopped being mr nice guy and defended his players - rightly or wrongly - and showed a bit of fire.

For fairness, i thought the questions were justified, and Carlos' anger was probably amplified because hes had it fairly easy up til now.

If the players dont step up and do it for him tomorrow, they cant complain if carlos batters them from pillar to post. Time for some leaders to step up in that squad, grab the rest and get us firing.

Guest The Horse

Just watched it all through.
Thought Carlos came across as a bit of a prat.
When he's asking Giddings for his opinion instead of hiding behind fans... WTF?
He's a journalist who hosts a phone-in show from fans. He reads this forum. He gets emails and monitors social media. He's got as good an insight into fan's opinions as it's possible to get. On top of which, journalists are supposed to ask the questions people want asking.
Thought Giddings did a great job. Hope he doesn't stop asking those tough questions.
The part where Carlos doesn't agree that we've played bad in games is disconcerting too. He's either putting on a front for the cameras or he really is blind to the fact that we only turn up for the second half in the majority of games in which case we're fooked.
Hoping that this really is a turning point for the good and he's had a word with himself and the players.

Proof is in the next two games. Especially the one on Sunday in front of us lot and the nation again.

We'll see who CC actually holds responsible tomorrow night then won't we?

Jones for Hutch & Loovens for JVA is my guess. Palmer & Pudil subs because Hunt & Reach must be flagging a bit.

He was right to keep the unbeaten team, but he'd be equally right to change one that failed. Let's see if he does.

Keep the faith. The gaffer is vexed. Time to bounce back.

I would have played our beast of a midfielder and at least one of our pacy wingers

What players would you bench for our unskilled, but yer-da-says-he-gets-stuck-in hypothetical midfield beast?

What players would you bench for our hypothetical fast but unskilled on the ball, unable to cross, and defensively useless hypothetical wingers?

You lot always seem to think we can just have our pick of players like this is Football Manager or something.

Until he makes exactly the same mistakes again, like he has done for the last two years. How many times does he have to repeat them before people realise it's pointless keeping him in the post? Watching him is like watching Groundhog Day, although instead of 'I Got You Babe' playing on his alarm clock, he waltzes into a press conference and says "we are in a good way" and "we give henergy to the players".

We might very well get a win from Birmingham or Leeds, which will paper over the cracks for another fortnight and sate the blind followers once again. A lot like beating Forest and Brentford (two poor teams who use our favourite style of football to play against) papered over them until Sheffield United broke the spell that Carvalhal's charm seems to have over some of you.

The longer we keep Carlos in the job, the more time and money is wasted and the harder this league is to get out of. We're going to find ourselves in a position soon where the 3-year FFP assessment stops us from signing anyone, and we'll be stuck with a squad of mediocre players that Carlos has been allowed to waste millions on and the next manager's got to sort out. The longer we stay in this league, the harder it is to get out of.

To give an example of how vital it is that we get rid ASAP, If we'd have done the sensible deed and given Carlos his P45 after the Huddersfield play-off semi, we wouldn't now have George Boyd, Joost Van Aken, Frederico Venancio and Jacob Butterfield. George Boyd is on massive wages and has hardly played, Van Aken cost £4m and has already made fatal defensive mistakes against Forest and Sheff Utd despite being able to ping a ball 40 years,  Venancio will be just like every other Portuguese signing we've made, and Butterfield had 100% of Derby fans happy to see him leave. Based on his corners on Sunday, I'm beginning to sympathise with them.

Cracking post.

The entire back line played poorly, and that may have been the worst I've seen of both Jack Hunt and especially Westwood.

Wasn't helped by a poor game from Jones either.  Also, for the first time in as long as I can recall, Kieran Lee was absolutely invisible on the pitch.

I'm not as hard on the centre backs, to me it seemed like it was very much a team effort out there to suck.
