The temptation is for the media (and attention craving school boys) to just start bandying around fairly well known names to sell stories or get hits. Ireland comes into this category. Most folks will have heard of him. The worst thing is when a club comes into some money they start wanting to make 'statement signings' And again , too many times it is about a name being fairly well known. Whether or not they could actually offer anything to the team or more importantly fit into the ethos of what is being achieved. I can honestly say that 90% of the time I'd rather buy a 21 year old from the first division with hunger, potential and desire. Than a thirty year old who thinks that he's 'doing us a favour' coming here. It should always be about what a player offers on the park.
