Conor Hourihane

Nixons latest tweet seems to be along the lines of villa having trouble with bidding on hourihane and others aswell.

Maybe villa were never fully interested,  due to the fact he's quite far down on thier shopping list and the fact he's reluctant to up sticks.

Probably an agents ploy to start some type of bidding war where the player gets more wages from the winning team.

Agree

His agents are just doing their job trying to drive his wages up. Don't think villa are all that bothered.

Really hope we get the guy. Hourihane plus a solid centre back as back up, someone in the Micheal turner mould, and it'll have been a great transfer window.

We've got Sasso as third/fourth choice CB. Not sure anyone better than him would be happy to come and play second fiddle to Lees and Loovens, or even third fiddle if you include Hutch's ability to play there if we're a little short.

Will also use this opportunity as a friendly reminder that in his one start alongside Tom Lees, he statistically outperformed him in every aspect both offensively and defensively, apart from aerial battles. Doesn't mean he's better than Lees... possibly suggests some of you are blinkered when it comes to accepting he's a half-decent third choice CB and probably the best fourth choice CB of anyone in this league outside of the relegated Prem clubs.

Agreed, he's not bad cover. He's comfortable on the ball and useful at set pieces, I just don't know if he's solid defensively as we need. He looks like he's always got an error in him. We managed to get a prem CB to come as cover last season in Turner. But agreed it's not gonna be easy to find someone up for it.

Yeah, I was wondering if we might take another look at Preston's captain, Tom Clarke.

Both of the ugly sisters in Scotland also interested but only one of them I would say has a chance and that would be Celtic. Offer him potential champions league football, guranteed to win titles, working under a very decent manager and also the Irish connection as well.

Easy money up there

interesting that hourihane played for barnsley yesterday what with all the speculation, especially with him being at hillsborough twice last week

maybe he only wants to come to Wednesday and Barnsley are being mardy, so he's stopping until his contract expires when he can do what he wants..... or until Barnsley crack at the thought of £0.00 fee and no sell-on

By 'Champions League football' you mean 180 pre season minutes in Slovakia? lol
