Earlsfieldowl
This has been the best week of pre-season for many a year. Great to see the new coach in place and working with the team from the 1st day of pre-season. The rumours surrounding Cooper in the 3 weeks up to confirming Carvalhal's appointment were a bit of a shambles. Even you were convinced Cooper would be in place last week. Glad that was not the case as Carvalhal looks comfortable and happy with his own team around him Cooper was a load of nonsense wasn't he in the end? poite
Only a few weeks ago we were a club with hardly any players and no manager. CC brought in and it didn't seem like anyone could actually say what his job was. Weeks of speculation on mark Cooper without any word from the club confirming or denying an approach. We seemed like we had no idea what we were doing or what structure was to be in place. It was looking fairly shambolic. Different story now, things are taking shape and look good for start of the season. People were only judging on what was fact at the time

Rance McGraw
What a complete shambles this pre-season is turning out to be. New £1m pitch New scoreboard Full coaching team in place before the start of preseason training Only signed Lopez, Wallace, Matias, Hunt, Price, Lachmann and Sasso To be fair I can completely understand why people have been kicking off. You kill me Nige. Are you a clapper like me?Or just Wednesdayite??? ige
blueandwhitematt
In other words things take time. When people were melting down and Nixon was doing whatever the amateur-hour f.u.ck it is he thinks he's doing, the club were getting on with business. Well said. The lack of any sort of willingness from a large amount of people on here to show any sort of patience was staggering. We're still in the process of overhauling the entire structure of the organisation, and as many of us tried to say, these things take time. Not that is stops the usual suspects, but it seemed to infect a lot of the more level-headed posters too. Combined with the fact that most football business doesn't really kick-off until July, it wasn't really anything to get too worked up about. Yet people were losing their heads and speculating wildly based on absolutely nothing - just because we weren't screaming and shouting in the media, it never meant that Roeder, Hill, Senior, Aldridge etc weren't going about their jobs. And its a message I'll still repeat now. The new guys (Chansiri, his advisors, Carvalhal, the new players) need time. We've had a lot of absolute crap over the last 15 or so years, lets just see how all this works out. Just enjoy it for the time being, bloody hell, and a bit of patience. Morepork
Made perfect sense to be sceptical up to a week or so ago. Completely disagree, there was a case for not being overly optimistic, but no case at all for being sceptical or pessimistic.

Past Member
Made perfect sense to be sceptical up to a week or so ago. Still sceptical now. DC has hired a very dubious management team. 2 of 3 of his committee left in the first few weeks. We're made a few promising, but nearly all foreign and new to the championship. It would take a very accomplished manager to work this work. There is nothing to suggest CC is this. His spending of DC money in his homeland really is the easy part. It remains to be seen whether he can do the hard part. My half empty attitude, predicts he'll be gone by November and a manager will have to come in and pick up the pieces, with a lot of homesick foreigners. It will be a very warm and sunny day in all parts with the exception of the area near zzmdu where a deep depression will persist forever.
