Simon Grayson comments on Sheffield Wednesday crowd

Recommended Posts

Simon Grayson was disappointed Preston North End did not get a result away to Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls beat Preston 3-1 thanks to goals from Kieran Lee, Daniel Pudil and Lewis Mcgugan.

Grayson said that he has never seen Hillsborough the way it was at the weekend, with previous experience visiting the ground during his spell as Leeds United manager.

He said: "Up to the 44th minute we were comfortable, I have never known Hillsborough so quiet, our goalkeeper has not had a save to make, then we make a mistake and we made another one after half-time and we have a mountain to climb.

"At Championship level you get punished if you make mistakes."

The nerves on show at the weekend illustrated the expectation at Sheffield Wednesday this season, with fans hoping the side can make good on their aim to get in the hunt for the play-offs.

The win takes the Owls into the top 10 with 15 points, just three behind sixth placed Burnley.

The international break appears to be coming at the wrong time for the club, with four consecutive wins in all competitions, including a Capital One Cup victory over Newcastle United.

It was always going to be quieter playing against Preston, when we are expecting to win and the away fans are quiet, compared to playing Leeds which is what he was comparing it to.

Start of the 2nd half when we picked up the pace and had chance after chance until we scored the noise really picked up.

Blue and white tinted glasses.

The band get slated but without them, Hillsborough would be silent.

I don't like the band, I think their so tinpot but they serve a purpose.
