westy365owl
As said above the lights are knackered we can't get parts anymore and company who made the lights don't make the fittings anymore or a conversion kit for them to be made into LED fittings

Quickly Kevin
We could play all midweek fixtures at lunchtime to save on energy.
The coach
Why were the old floodlights so high? The ones at millmoor are massive..surely it would have required extra strong bulbs..hence more cost??

Though you wouldn't need as many to replace the conventional Metal Halide lamp. A smaller 1500w unit would be around £1500 ish. A lot depends on how the existing units are fixed and spaced as to what would suit best. Cabling etc is already in place so installation costs wouldn't be that great. I've no idea what sort of lamps are in place now. If they are Metal Halade ...they are still widely available and easy to replace. The FA reccomend a mininimum of 120 lux..which would not be bright enough for TV...well not an acceptable standard. While UEFA would be wanting around 500 to 1500 lux. 1

S72 Owl
Weirdly last night Burton fans didn’t see that they scored but also people around me (lower Kop) also had a delayed reaction to our first two goals because we didn’t think either had gone in. vulva
The lights are poor, and that’s compounded by those advertising boards that are too bright. Leppings Lane end in particular.

If you swap a 2000w halide for a 2000w led the running cost will be the same. Though you may not need as many led's. So running costs will be lower. However, the cost to buy the Led fittings would be much more expensive than halide.
