Feel sorry for the teenagers, that's pure peer pressure at that age to get mixed up, and if any adult involves a child then shame on them.

Don’t feel sorry for them...it’s just a laugh and a day out in a new city for them...they’ll have got back to Lincoln and told the mates who dint go loads of exaggerated tales about it ‘kickin off all day’..you are taking it far too seriouslol

We’ve got a cat - huge mean fecker with claws teeth & all the other feline gubbins; arches it’s back, hisses, bounces (sideways) - the whole shebang

I reckon it could (at least) “stand its ground” against (contemporary) Wednesday fooligoons

Reminds me of a barmaid at one of my old locals lol

There is one thing that’s being missed in all this. Whereas the old boys ( fat Sid bathtub butlap et al) merely turned up and steamed in after fifteen pints in the boozer, our young guns have a lot more to contend with. Not only do they have find the line of police to stand by, and there bouncing and pointing has to be of a higher standard than the opposition, but they have to have to posses Hitchcock quality filming ability to get it onto Instagram before they get to the ground.

This is the funniest thread which I''ve ever read on Owlstalk.  Oh, not the bit about a wheelchair - bound fella getting knocked over,  but the replies,  since the thread is long since off - topic,  I'll add to it....

We have a Manx cat,  a real one,  from the Island,  she's  a not very big "mean fecker",  with very big claws,  about an inch long.  Took her some time to get used to the Tropics ( Florida ) but now she's the terror of the local fauna...kills everything she sees,  baby alligators,  rattlesnakes, water moccasins ( poison snake ),  coral snakes  ( poison ),  lizards,  water frogs,  tree frogs,  Great Egrets ( large mean bird,  stands about 40 inches tall ),  I reckon her and the Truth cat could quell any dozen "Wednesday fooligans."

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the trouble that threatened to kick off opposite B&M on Middlewood Road before the match.

Lincoln fans, presumably from the train and bus stations, were being escorted by the police along one side of Middlewood Road when a crowd of Wednesday 'fans' gathered on the opposite side and started trying to break the police cordon to attack the Lincoln fans. Mostly a load of macho posturing but, from what I saw, the police did a good job of making sure the Lincoln fans were protected. Without them it could have got much nastier.

I didn't hang around to see what happened next but another pile of Wednesdayites ran down Middlewood Road to confront them and loads more police arrived too.

How sad. I really thought the days were gone when a family couldn't go to a match without fear of getting beaten up. Another thread speaks of how welcome it was to get over 3000 away fans. They're not gonna come back if they have to walk through a gauntlet of idiots intent on smashing someone up.

It was obvious who the biggest culprits were - the one's actually leading the charge through the police cordon. Do the police have cameras on their vests now? If so those idiots should be identified, banned from games and made to attend a police station every Saturday afternoon.

It made me ashamed to be a Wednesdayite.

It worries me how people view different situations and the outcome is always so anti Swfc fans.

Those Lincoln fans had not been escorted, they’d got off the tram. They were hurling abuse at passers by. Some Swfc fans took offence to this and started shouting back.

There was 3 coppers, and there was no ‘charge’ for god sake 🤣

Hillsborough and Wednesday is increasingly looking like a big day out for these hillbillies and their associated teams. Look at Bolton. Played like Juventus against us and Freybentos since. I’m coming around to the idea that next season, once the novelty has worn off, we will dry bum this league. We may well have to bite our lip this season.

Somebody also has to take responsibility for having the football intelligence officers on speed dial, so that they can tip them off, where and when it’s all gonna kick off.

It’s a huge logistical responsibility, otherwise the pointing, shouting and bouncing could lead to actual trouble if the public order cops aren’t there to protect em all.

It can really kick off if the ‘logistics officers’ from both crews, blame each other for failing to notify the old bill. Even more pointing, shouting, bouncing and screaming ‘What do we do nah?  There’s no Rozzers here!’*.

They can then only hope that some member of the public rings up to save em.

Maybe sometimes the riot cops hold off from a good viewing point and watch the moral and (lack of) bottle dilemma developing, just for a laugh.

* Rozzers may not be an up to date reference in the 21st century 😀

I think you must be talking about a different confrontation.

I saw the Lincoln fans walking from Hillsborough Corner with a police escort and causing no trouble that I could see, although some were chanting as football fans sometimes do - I've done it myself many times. They were met by a crowd of Wednesday fans who had gathered outside B&M. It was some of the Wednesday fans who kept running into the road to get to the Lincoln fans, only to be blocked by the baton-wielding police officers. One such idiot was thrown to the floor by an officer. No doubt some of the Lincoln fans did their own jumping up and down with their arms out but they weren't causing the police a problem. The police were having to defend the Lincoln fans from our hoolies not the other way around. All the idiotic behaviour I saw was from Owls fans. It might have ended up being two sets of fans shouting at each other but only because the police kept the two sides apart.

If you did see what I saw you are trying to defend the indefensible.

Sounds feasible:

I can just imagine the Great Egret saying -“ watch out for the one without the tail - well ‘ard” 😳
