BREAKING NEWS. Up to 4000 fans to be allowed at outdoor sports venues

From BBC

A maximum of 4,000 fans are to be allowed at outdoor events in the lowest-risk areas when the national lockdown in England ends on 2 December, BBC Sport understands.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to make an announcement on the return of crowds later on Monday.

He will make a statement to the House of Commons, which MPs will vote on.

There will be no crowds allowed in the highest-risk areas under the new Covid-19 restrictions in England.

Elite sports has continued behind closed doors during England's four-week lockdown, while grassroots and amateur sport has been halted since 5 November.

Problem being is everywhere will be a high risk tier

Especially after Christmas

Then there'll be no-one allowed in.

Targeted approach to this is correct IMO,and the tiered system did look to be working when you look at the figures for Sheffield in the weeks before lockdown when Sheffield was Tier 3, the cases were falling.

Football clubs can start to get some revenue in, and those who don't want to go won't be forced to go.

I dont think it should be allowed until all tiers can attend stadiums.

Advantage to teams in the tier 1 whilst teams in tier 3 wont have a home support.

True.

Imagine if Wednesday were at home with the fans backing them, we'd be unstoppable.

The only advantage is financial, but surely this is a start. Once they prove it makes little difference to figures, it could be rolled out to all tiers.
