I’m sure he would have scored a few and given his confidence a massive lift. Not criticising anyone, but there have been so many games, where we have created very little in front of goal, and when we set up chances, like we did last night, he’s not on the pitch. Monk said his strategy was lots of early crosses, and Rhodes would thrive on that with his instinctive timing. But it was right to give Kachunga a fullish game. I hope the template of last night is seen many times this season, though with the left-footed Reach or Penney supplying early crosses from the left, and Harris, Kachunga, Moses and the highly impressive Palmer from the right. You wouldn't get a sniff with some of the top posts, and against Watford, we need contributers who are going to try and make this a better site. Rhodes wasn’t just in the right place at right time, wasn’t just winning free kicks that led to the goal, wasn’t just winning flicks on to runners but also rubbing his balls off as you put it. Any striker that can rub his balls off and score is good enough for me. Seriously. He’s scored 4 goals in his last 750 minutes in a Wednesday shirt. He scored 6 in 1010 in a Norwich shirt. Many fans harp all the way back to the 17/18 season to do him down. That’s desperation. I wish him nothing but well for the season ahead. I'm fairly certain he will get plenty of game time this term, likely through necessity rather than choice. But I think that will be great for him, rather than being in and out or only off the bench and we'll see his best return for us. Now I know that wont be hard, but if he chips in with 10-15 goals this term alongside similar figure from Windass and maybe even Kachunga then that should stand us in good stead and him too. Monk makes the point in his interview that it’s important that all the squad get minutes under their belt and that too many games in short order is risky. We’re still short of strikers so best to rotate for games like this.
