Rhodes last night?

Recommended Posts

Speaking with hindsight, last nights performance was right up his street.

I’m sure he would have scored a few and given his confidence a massive lift.

Not criticising anyone, but there have been so many games, where we have created very little in front of goal, and when we set up chances, like we did last night, he’s not on the pitch. Sod’s law.

You may well be right mate. Monk said his strategy was lots of early crosses, and Rhodes would thrive on that with his instinctive timing.

But it was right to give Kachunga a fullish game.

I hope the template of last night is seen many times this season, though with the left-footed Reach or Penney supplying early crosses from the left, and Harris, Kachunga, Moses and the highly impressive Palmer from the right.

I also think that perming any two from Windass, Rhodes and Kachunga is not the worst place to be.

I honestly couldn't see him pressing as well as Reach Kachunga and Windass did last night. Hopefully if his confidence improves he can get around the pitch with a bit more purpose.

I think it begs the question is he required?

We pressed and created a load of chances and yes, poorer opposition - but like you said them chances likely wouldn’t have come with Rhodes trotting about

I don’t think he’ll get a sniff against Watford, we need people who are gonna run their balls off for that game

Did you miss the Cardiff game? Rhodes wasn’t just in the right place at right time, wasn’t just winning free kicks that led to the goal, wasn’t just winning flicks on to runners but also rubbing his balls off as you put it.

To be honest, I’d rather he didn’t run himself into the ground and focus on being in right place and fresh, but I guess that’s a call for Monk and Rhodes presses as much as any other striker at moment.

Some of my breakfast just really-appeared  at the thought of that.

Any striker that can rub his balls off and score is good enough for me.

Seriously. He’s scored 4 goals in his last 750 minutes in a Wednesday shirt. He scored 6 in 1010 in a Norwich shirt.

Many fans harp all the way back to the 17/18 season to do him down. That’s desperation.

I wish him nothing but well for the season ahead.

I'm fairly certain he will get plenty of game time this term, likely through necessity rather than choice. But I think that will be great for him, rather than being in and out or only off the bench and we'll see his best return for us. Now I know that wont be hard, but if he chips in with 10-15 goals this term alongside similar figure from Windass and maybe even Kachunga then that should stand us in good stead and him too. Win win.

I mean there's lots of posts on here, some are poor, but none so poor as yours.

You wouldn't get a sniff with some of the top posts, and against Watford, we need contributers who are going to try and make this a better site.

Nothing personal.

Jesus calm down you wet wipe, your Mrs turn you down last night again?

Maybe the manager is judging Rhodes on what he has seen rather than on his price tag and feels others are just as worthy of an opportunity.

I am really happy he is giving the young lads a chance to show what they can do.

Ah yes those young lads Reach and Kachunga.

We’re still in what would normally be pre season training though. Monk makes the point in his interview that it’s important that all the squad get minutes under their belt and that too many games in short order is risky.

We’re still short of strikers so best to rotate for games like this. If Rhodes doesn’t start Saturday then your point could be proved but I think he’ll get another chance against better opposition.

No way was it up his street, we pressed high, he can't do this, for whatever reason, crosses in the main last night were diabolical.
