If I remember he had a couple of stormers when he broke into the first team a couple of years ago but then got moved around and disappeared a bit. Thought Brown looked good at times particularly when running at their defence, he is one of those players who looks up when running with the ball looking for options rather than head down and go for it. Thought the system we started with was poor, Reach just doesn't look like a striker. I have been very critical of Monk but At the moment he is playing with a losing hand. Tougher challenges ahead. Lees - 7 - Solid but he needs to be more decisive with his passing. Slows play down. Borner - 6 - Good mostly with a couple of errors. Odubajo - 7 - linesman offered no favours on several Good runs in behind. Harris - 6 - Needs to free himself up a little more. Bannan - 6 - Not quite with it today. Dele-Bashiru - 6 - Needs to settle. Luongo - 7 - solid game shame about that left foot strike. Brown - 6 - not what he gave v Leicester but a slightly different position. Reach - 5 - Never really got into the game. Penney -8- A threat the entire Cameo. Drove at the heart of their defence gave us a real lift. MOM. Windass - 7 - looked good. The Night-Owl Posted September 5, 2020 Share Posted September 5, 2020 Penney deserves a start. Was a solid and dull performance. Impressed with Penney, Izzy and Fizzy. Was clear as day we have to replace Murphy and bring in some strikers. Gotta be pleased with another clean sheet and to go through, albeit on the lottery of spot kicks but a lot of other Championship clubs went out. I expected us to lose once it got to penalties and was shocked that they were all taken well. We have to improve but it will be difficult until we get a few more in but I do think our defence and midfield look solid enough to compete. He got moved a lot by Luhukay, but don't forget that he broke his shoulder against Villa and as soon as Bruce took over he set him for operation. Why it wasn't done right away makes no sense to me.
