Where did our injury list go?

Recommended Posts

Remember when our side was Reach and ten second-choice players?

We had a top six side, but barring Reach they were all out injured.

With Lees and Forestieri back we now have every first teamer and likely sub fit and available. It is a fantastic place to be.

Even with a suspension or injury or two we are in great shape. Lees has hardly been missed, with Borner and Iorfa gelling brilliantly. Borner will miss a game very soon when he gets a yellow, and we have the luxury of a Lees-Iorfa pairing as “cover”. Hutch sat out and Luongo came in, played well and scored the winner. Lee can’t even get into the side.

If Harris or Reach struggle wide we have Murphy and Forestieri. Many posters would have Forestieri as a first choice anyway.

At full-back we have 4 for two places.

It is probably only at striker where we have an issue. No problem with the quantity of options, but an issue with its quality. Especially if we stick with 433, which only suits Fletcher. (though Monk has showed he is not a slave to a formation so if Fletch is out for a while we might well see 442 which probably suits the other strikers more).

Huge respect to our medical/physio team. It can’t be a coincidence what happened between 2015 and 2018, but touch-wood it’s all history, leaving us with a healthier squad and pretty well-balanced squad.

From listening to Hutchinson on commentary this weekend he said that the training preseason was the toughest he could remember, 9 days of running and fitness. He also said that football has changed (albeit I think its just managers) as he said Carlos was great at managing individuals with many not training every session, but now he said everyone trains every session and if you're tired, sore etc you train anyway.

Carlos approach very short term motivated, think of next game not next month, next season etc and I think that had massively took its toll on our players. That combined with bad luck too. Fingers crossed, everyone stays healthy this term!

Lee will play a bit part this year which is a shame but the writing was on the wall for him after his horrendous lay off - I bet he's loving actually training, being on the bench and being in games again after that dark period.

He will leave at the end of the season and will be able to play in League One week in week out if he keeps himself injury free this year - and so he should, 32 next year and can carry on for a couple more years and see his career our.

FF, Hutch, Westwood, lee, lees, bannan, pretty sure Palmer was injured a lot, im sure others are still here, apart from lees which have these have been out for sustained periods since they were allowed to recoup and then given the right fitness training?

Brush it aside all you want but none of players were conditioned, the game changed years ago, it’s not like the 90s where players like Hirst Palmer and Sheridan could be out all night pissed and rock up on a Saturday to play out of their skins.

Dont think you could argue with that. And you can add Fletcher to this.

agree with this

many asking why he was on bench and Joey played last week but we don't know where KL is with his fitness

thought 2nd half v Barnsley he was like he'd never been away but maybe he simply cant do 90 mins or even 60 without pain or further risk  etc

let him have this season, it 's more than some expected, and then we move on

end of season departure along with some significant others
