HIGHERSTATE
Nobody could have made that decision at real speed Not even watching the tele box

I thought it looked well outside but was clearly inside on that picture. I thought the same as you. Having said that the ref was poor. There was a foul in the second half, a blatant one and while the ref gave it he hesitated for several seconds and you could just tell from his expression that he didn't want to give it. TANGLED UP IN BLUE
Can't blame ref for missing the pen.....he was miles away Not sure he got Hutch's yellow right either? Another poor official who looked like he was glad of a breather everytime he blew for a foul. Gave either team ages to decide what to do before blowing to start play. TANGLED UP IN BLUE
Referees are getting worse...I mean Swarbrick getting away with that at Hillsborough v Villa sums it up...unreal The FA or who ever need to encourage ex players and coaches from decent levels to get involved who understand or have played the game. We are there to watch a game of football flow and played fairly for 90mins thats it.
Guest Ferkorf
Not a fan of Var. They still cant get it right with it. Stops the game every five to ten minutes because the referee can't do his job
PeteG_1984
Watching it on TV in real time, it didn’t look like it was in the box, so yes I guess VAR would have definitely helped. But personally, I’m not a fan of VAR. I think it takes something away from goal celebrations.
neo hippy
Looked well outside on the tv. I think VAR needs to be a referral system. Play to the whistle and each team get 2 or 3 per game. They have to ask for one once the ball is out of play
MrsHall
No VAR for me in its current guise...just more PC guff killing enjoyment of the game..for me anyhow. UTO. FVAR. FTB.
Westfield Owl
Anyone that wants VAR in the Championship isn’t a football fan.

matthefish2002
It was a pen but swings and roundabouts as we might get one go in out favour on Saturday. Would rather we lost last night without VAR spoiling every game.

I don't think enough is being done to get people in to refereeing but saying that Its a horrible job at times especially at grass roots .. the level of respect is pretty much non existant from players, blokes that have been out on the lash or that have a bloody screw loose ... I've seen ref's chastised and chased off the pitch and threatened with weapons and all sorts even some assaulted ..
vulva
Watched the game last night and my initial reaction was that it was outside the box.
hodgybysea
Ref was poor last night seemed to want to pick a fight with our players,no booking when the guy hooked Harris down when he was away, then booked a couple of ours for trivial fouls. Got me thinking, what was the ref like on Saturday?,the fact I couldn't even remember him was probably a sign he was decent.

If the talking points aren't around the ref, usually they've had a decent but quiet game ...
Maddogbob
Think weve all seen the carnage its caused in the EPL. So for that reason, ill take the dodgy decisions that tend to even themselves out over the season.
