Steve Gibsons declaration of war today

Suppose one way of looking at it is that Gibson has convened a meeting between clubs so he can tell them that the EFL bosses don't know what they're doing and should get their act together.  Wonder how well that'll be received by the EFL? Surely any evidence he's going to use against us anyway will be guesswork as our accounts haven't been made public yet.

Don't really understand the constant attack on the EFL as a result of them applying UEFA rules

They're not UEFA rules. UEFA introduced the first Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations in 2010. Many governing bodies and leagues followed suit, with the EFL introducing their own FFP regulations in April 2012.  In 2014, representatives of the EFL’s 24 Championship clubs voted in favour of a new set of regulations - the Championship Profitability and Sustainability Rules - that came into effect from Season 2016/17.

We should send our lawyers to the meeting make sure Gibson and others know they are there ,let them sit there and record what is said.

All Championship clubs are gathering at this meeting.

Not sure the EFL will have anyone present.

Apparently, to get any rules changed you need 18 out of 24 clubs to be in support. Clearly, us, Villa and Derby will oppose. Question is whether all the others will support Gibson. One would suspect we are not the only ones sailing close to the wind on this.

I'm not sure whether the voting system also applies to a potential EFL investigation too.

Support what though? They can’t change the rules retrospectively so what would they be supporting? An investigation? Is there an article about this meeting somewhere?

Yet Gibson is more than happy to accept premier league failure payments to give his team an unfair advantage. I assume the irony of this is lost on him.

Think all clubs agree to the rules when it advantages then and disagree with those that don't.
Other clubs smaller could argue they have kept within FFP and Wednesday have not giving us unfair advantage.

Even better, £18m.  £12m Rhodes, £6m Reach. He should be on his knees thanking us for our generosity.

Could we offer to send them back for a refund? FFP sorted

Seems awfull convenient that two of the teams are right in the mix for the play offs.

Surely, there's no chance of a points deduction for anyone now? That would be farcical.

Don't think any points deductions applied now would count until next season. Think theres a deadline (not sure what it is)

I am was a great admirer of the contribution he's made to Boro

but I'm afraid this is coming across as a mardy sour grapes loser   We'll never know but I'd put money on him keeping his gob shut if Boro had gone up auto

Football has almost always been dominated by clubs who were big enough and able to spend money, we have been at the forefront of this in headier days. I remember us buying Tommy Craig for at the time a record fee that seemed utterly amazing amount of money but we could then

for many recent years we just haven't had cash relying on the likes of DA to chuck a few quid at it  milan to cobble us through to a sale  now we have cash we cant fecking spend it  not frustrating at all

Can’t really complain about a call for more transparency to be honest, no matter who it comes from or why. All our fake sponsors are well dodgy aren’t they. Just have to hope we have more support or better lawyers.

Its to scupper teams next year.

Its obvious, if boro fail to go up this year, there failure payments run out and they want to narrow the margins for themselves next year.

Boro wont go up via the play offs as villa leeds and wba are all far superior to them.
