The EFL said stop taking the p*ss, and we have

plus, this is brought up now, now we finally have a few players coming back after a ridiculous injury situation, presumably because he's worried about boro's chances next year

He’s probably been sh!tt!ng bricks now we’ve got Bruce and knows if they stop down then we’re a strong contender next season? Classic case for me of trying to weaken a rival which he’s arguably already done by charging us Top Whack for Reach and Rhodes with varying degrees of success?

Yes, if I was DC I would be putting a claim in against Gibson for extortion.

The whole thing is a mess. Teams getting parachute money is a joke it should be in all players contracts that they receive a pay cut upon relegation in line with the teams reduced income. Agents shouldn't be getting the money they are getting the last is leaking out of the game either.

If we have broken rules the  we will be punished but as a club we have been well and truly pooped on. Relegated from the premier league with high earners and without the money clubs are given today which was exasperated by the collapse of the IatV digital deal. Then unlike many clubs we avoided admin but paid for it by spending two spells in league 1. We then get an owner who wants to spend but isn't allowed to as the rules are changed, meanwhile some of those clubs who have been in administration have been back to or are still in the premier league reaping the money that generates. We were so far behind we had to spend to get any quality to be in with any chance but we still haven't spent anywhere near what other teams have.

I know Sheffield United have done it without spending like we have but they are a freak in that things have come together and fair play to them. But then they have had parachute payments and the Tevez money so they have had the benefit of the totally unbalanced system currently in place.

Football is ruined by the ever increasing amounts of money and the greedy sharks who circle where money is involved sadly.

Isn’t what Gibson is doing the equivalent to a bit of matchday pointing WTF:

More like match day trumping FFS lol .

Also, was Gibson in charge when they refused to fulfil a fixture because they had a large injury list? Funny thing about it was that they'd have stayed up if they'd played the match lol lol  IIRC

This is why FFP is a load of rubbish. Why are clubs forced to sell their best players? What if said player doesn’t want to leave?

Ridiculous rule. The only criticism I have of Chansiri is signings loads of players who weren’t good enough or have hardly played. Even then how can the EFL punish for that? How on earth have the likes of David Jones, Almen Abdi, Jordan Rhodes and Urby Emanuelson given us an unfair advantage? They’ve made us even worse.

How about this for a scenario. We have to sell Foresteri to balance the books and Fulham give us £8 million for him. In effect it's cost them nothing as they've cashed in some of their parachute payments and still have around 30 odd million left. Fair play indeed.

Got to think something eventually has to give with this whole P and S situation.

Set up with the right intentions, but the whole thing is becoming a political tool.

Gibson trying to use it an effort to ensure his team have a better chance of promotion next season. Not great for the integrity of the league going forward.

Clubs coming down get around 90 million in parachute payments over 3 years so how about clubs in the championship get to spend similar amounts over 3 years ie 40 million in year 1 35 million in year 2 and15 million in year 3. So in effect P&S limit is increased from 39 million to 90 million. Also can somebody explain something to me. If a team is relegated with 90 million parachute payments Does that mean under P&S rules they can go 129 million in debt before breaking the rules?

It's all b*llocks. Football League spoke to us about FFP, put us under a soft embargo, we then worked with them on it, sold Hunt, didn't sign anyone, and then when we were out of the soft embargo, we only brought Onoma in on loan. In Jan we brought 2 more on loan and Iorfa for 200k paid for by the TV money from the Chelsea game. The only reason he mentioned us in his tantrum is because when he did there was a decent chance of us getting in the playoffs while Boro were in freefall off a cliff. The only remote way he can say we are abusing the rules is with Elev8te and D taxis, but the Footy league would have a hard time proving that neither will ever become a company properly. DC will just stick some monster in a new can :Sid:

The only reason he mentioned us was he had to. If he'd just mentioned Derby and Villa who were / are in all honesty his main concerns and the ones he really wants docking points everybody would be saying but what about Wednesday they've been under a soft embargo? That would then expose his real agenda.

Then what happens in year 4? When does the 3 year period start? when you enter the championship via promotion or relegation?

Exactly clear as mud. Maybe what should be happening is. Well Mr Chansiri you've overspent by 10 million this season can you sustain that debt? Yes I can. Well in that case you have met the sustainability requirements.

If Gibson can try it on and a call a meeting for spurious reasons - can we volunteer a 9 point credit this season so we have a clean slate for the next 3 years?

What Gibson was looking to do was effectively legitimise Corporate Espionage.

Just like Bielsa did for L**ds.

If trespassing or obtaining confidential files occurred in any other business,  without the consent of the owner, it is a criminal act.
