‘We will just replace him’

Bannan has had 2/3 bad games recently. The problem is, when Bannan is off his game then so are the team as they rely on him way too much. There is no one else in the squad who can take control of a game, no one else who can step up and be creative.

I also believe that teams target him. Stop Bannan and you stop Wednesday.

we can’t afford to be dependent on just one player.

Yes - Bannan and wednesday have been inextricably linked for three seasons now - like BB is our umbilical cord.

I remember Sheridan being the same but he had big leaders; personalities and performers to take the pressure off him.

No-one is irreplaceable at this level, and I've no doubt Bruce is capable of replacing anyone we have. That's the perk of signing an established proven manager, especially one notorious for good man-management. His reputation will attract.

Dave Jones was a prime example. You may not have liked him for a variety of reasons, but he lured Fryatt, Wickham, Barkley, and Bothroyd (yes we all know how that panned out, but looked good on paper). Jones made those happen despite a tight Mandaric budget.

That's why I'm confident in Bruce, given time and funds to implement his way.

When you get to your first million... you start to think like a millionaire.

What we need here are players that go to bed thinking about improvement and success... then wake up thinking about the same.

We need athletes who are fiercely proud of their own performance.

We don't need over the hill supercar merchants that think the gravy train goes on forever...or their parasitical agents. We've got to have an environment of hunger...hunger to have pride and drive and success.

Talent and skill will take you so far... but imo you've really got to WANT IT.

I love Bannan, I really do. He's earned his contract. BUT.

To be unbiased.

We are consistently having the weakest, smallest player on the pitch every game.

The Preston performance was a chance to view a more athletic wednesday side.

4-1-4-1 almost with strength, height and ability there for all to see. Joao, Onomah, Hector, Fletcher, Lees and dare I say Pelupessy! Was not hampered by having to mop up after Bannan!

We play directly through Bannan every game and I would question "Is he good enough for the Premier"

I have my doubts.

The future of Sheffield Wednesday can’t be Bannan at the centre of everything

That model has failed, and now we are regressing

Either have similar quality players around him, or get some money for him and try something else

It isn’t working

I would get rid of Reach for decent money. Other team sell their so called best players when their stock is high and replace them with players who are as good but all we do is keep them until their value drops. If it had been possible I would have sold him at the end of September when his value was sky high.

He gets next to no support, we are incredibly poor going forward as our lack of goals shows - sadly our defensive side isn’t any good either

Watching other teams shows up how very slow and unathletic we are as a team.

Bar Hutchinson we don’t have an aggressive bone in our bodies.

I’d suggest player for player we have a much better squad ability wise than Leeds or the pigs. Work rate wise, strength and aggression wise and just down right will and desire wise we are a million miles behind

Ability wise I'm no longer sure.

Lees seems have gone backwards.

Both fullback positions need strengthening.

No pace in attack apart from MM and he is very hit and miss.

Reach is a good wide player, seen to good effect cutting inside. Wasted in this central role. Bannan, plays too deep to be effective.

As for the strikers, we'll be lucky if we get 25 goals out of the lot of them.

Then we could talk about Jones / Boyd / Abdi, but what is the point.

As most of have said, clearout needed.

We've had a decent run recently and came up against the leagues most in-form team yesterday and were rightly dispatched.

We didn't deserve anything from the game.

Depsite the difference in performance between the two teams yesterday I was pîssed off at how weak we looked, too easy to push off the ball and always looking for soft fouls all over the shop. Need to man up.

The trouble atm is our inconsistency, one minute players look cohesive ( despite being placeless ) the next minute they look like they've never met. It becomes difficult to see where the true potential within this squad lies.

That said, some players have regukarly demonstrated they are not of the right standard and/or have reached an age where they should be sold or released in the summer (at the latest)

Brucey will sort it, whether it's in time for a push next season remains to be seen.

Yes it was a bad day at the office yesterday, the players need to show us that's all it was ... starting Tuesday.

Bannan is brilliant in his day but he is inconsistent. He looks awful on his bad days. I think he could play in the premier league if he could perform consistently.

He is so good when he’s on it though. I don’t know who fans expect we could get as a replacement for him that would even be close to his level.

Many people after 1 game have decided we want to sell Bannan and Reach because they are ‘weak’ and ‘give the ball away cheaply’. If we did this, there is no way we would replace them.

This is exactly my point, although they will be replaced ... with someone not quite as good, which is, I dare say, what some people want. We need to keep our better players and get rid of the fillers and crocs. It's a hard decision with Hooper. I still think the pitch is a key factor in some of our worse injuries

Without his goals and assists we'd be bottom three. So obviously he is helping massively in a side that is poor going forward. Who would you replace him with if not difficult?

There are hundreds if not thousands of professional footballers who are available... Maybe try one of them?  We do have scouts I presume?

Like who? This is not football manager it's the real world. All the better talent is snaffled up by the premiership big boys and lower league clubs rely on this for survival. Our youth teams have been doing well last 2/3 years so hopefully a few these can progress to the first team. We cannot just keep spunking money like we have done.

Personally if someone offered 12million for Reach i would take it because of our FFP situation and not because some fans think he is Crap.

Id get rid of Reach this Jan,while his price is high and get a midfielder with a massive pair of nads who isnt scared of a tackle or a header..A Carlron Palmer type would complement Bannan....UTO FTFB

These players cost money. We can't spend money. If we sold Reach, any money we would get would not go into a transfer budget, it would go into the FFP.
