Bannan & Forestieri Overrated?

Yes I would agree with that.

FF was unplayable in his first season. These days offers very little due to injuries

FF hasn’t been the same player since refusing to play at Norwich. The team as a whole never really recovered.

We we should have got shut then. No one bigger than the team.

Would agree Bannan is overrated. Not as good as he's made out to be. He hasn't cut it at the top level as he is incapable of stamping his authority on a game. Unless a new manager makes a complete change to the formation which allows us to fit Bannan in.

And as for Nando, he hasn't been the same since the Norwich debacle and I'll be shocked if he's with us next season due to him entering the final year of his contract - and we won't be giving him a new one or let him go for nothing.

Bannan and Reach are our best players by far.

Bannan was excellent early season and has gone off slightly, as has the rest of the team. But he is still the heartbeat of our side. He has added goals this year - the thing he has lacked. Three goals from a CM after 18 games is good. We underrate Bannan. So many games our opposing fans and pundits pick him as MoM, but we have seen his excellence so often that we take it for granted.

The 18/19 Forestieri is very overrated. The 15/16 player was outstanding. Played wide he was one of the top half dozen players in the division. Played as a CF he was very average. However, whether by injury, or lack of self-motivation, or lack of respect for Carlos and now Jos, his star has rarely shone for two years. He hardly plays - he’s started 24 games in those 2 years.

end of day both of cost 3 miilion combined.

first time ever Wednesdays done decent business and probley won't do better again

I more concerned we bought jones,Boyd, abdi and fox for nearly £10 million plus the £6miilion a week wages we pay jones

Have to agree about BB, I hate those little floating chips into the box which almost always amount to nothing. I don't question his commitment and he needs someone to play alongside who can allow him tho play higher up the pitch instead of always having to drop back to get the ball.  The point the OP made about having a go at his team mates was evident again yesterday when he tore into Thorniley after the first goal.

Perhaps it's personal, as when CD has saved penalties he's made a point of congratulating him.

The two named players are good players in this league.

Under this regime it is hard to flourish.

Most of us will have worked for companies and bosses we don't like or understand the goals. It's demotivating and unproductive.

Until the manager is replaced, expect more of the same. Mediocre performances from all over the park. I imagine one or two can't wait for the transfer window.

Great point.

We will make a great profit on Bannan and Reach when they go.

Maybe not Nando now due to his many injuries but he has been fabulous value.

if you look at our squad the best players who have done something in their time here haven't cost hardly anything

westwood-free

hutch-free

bannan-free

lee-free

Hooper -£3million

fletcher -free

Fernando -£3million

reach-£5million

then comparing with

jones- £4 million

abdi-£4 million

Rhodes -record signing

vanAken -£4million

Marco £3 million

since we started spending serious money the players have got worse

our best team if fit is

westwood-free

palmer-youth

lees-free

hutch-free

thorniley/penney-youth

Fernando £3million

bannan-free

lee-free

reach-£5 million

hooper-£3million

fletcher -free

so our best possible team cost £11 million and the rest of the poo cost double/treble that

Bannan needs to play further up the pitch and not as a 3rd, 4th or 5th CB depending which formation Jos has picked out of his Lucky Bag this week.

To do that it would help if he didn't have a useless foooker like Joey at the side of him each week.

Fernando is our best player and should be starting in either a no 10 or inside forward role every game. He works hard for the team and Bannan is more effective when FF is on the pitch as the opposition can't play such a high line when players like FF or even Joao are on the pitch.

Agree, the problem for Bannan is that he looks up to pass forward and there’s no one there.

We’re basically playing 8 centre backs and letting in a minimum of 2 goal per game.

Totally agree that’s our best side.

What I wouldn’t give to see

Westwood

Palmer Lees Hutch Penney

FF Lee Bannan Reach

Hooper Fletcher

And as you say it was built very cheaply.

Sadly, five are injured now or often, and it’s never going to happen.

I wonder about Bannan and the role(s) he plays. He seems to be here there and everywhere, and how much does this mean that covering him is nigh impossible. Is it that he is being asked to play all these roles or is it his make-up that HE wants to be involved in everything, and so ends up fulfilling none of the roles completely.?Would he perhaps be better to not be involved in everything. There is nothing worse than, if you are trying to play a role, someone else steps in and does the job himself.

Bannan is bring told to play in front of the back 4 and everyone seems to be told to pass to him at every opportunity, despite Jos stating he doesn't like it, and FF is not being used even when he is fit

so whether they are overrated cannot be judged until we get the right manager in

Vote this down all you want, but this is just my opinion.

Bannan's set pieces really are terrible. A majority of his corners fail to clear the first man. Those little chipped crosses from central pieces do my head in, he tries to chip it over defenders heads from the edge of the box, when surely a better option would be to keep it on the floor. I love his workrate, however only this season have I noticed how he seems to rip into his team-mates. The Norwich game for example, when we conceded, he ran over to Pudil and in front of 25,000 people had his finger in his face, shouting at him. Appalling if you ask me.

Forestieri. On his day, in the top 5 players in the league. But in the last 12 months, how many times have we seen him on his day? Not many. Does seem to go missing way more now than he did in his first season. Add to that his very poor injury record (think it was less than 1/3 of games he has started in his time here), I honestly believe he is also overrated these days. I appreciate he isn't starting at the minute and I disagree with that, but he is hardly demanding a regular starting place.

Both excellent players on their day. But we rarely see their best.

We need to get rid of Jos and get one of the usual suspects in who's managed the division and brought teams out of it. We wont see the best of any of our players anytime soon if not because they aren't playing for him and we need somone who can change that. I think Jos would have done well in the long term IF results had gone our way for him and he had money to bring in players to suit his style, but the fact of the matter is we are in real danger of going down now

I know there are any number of issues contributing to our current problems but the one we can quickly change is the manager who is an absolute disaster.

forestieri came back in against derby after we had been without him for a couple of months - he’s now been benched for two consecutive games - why?

Under performing would be more apt imo.

Agree with you but in Fessi’s case you have to be on the pitch to perform, under or otherwise. Even in his brief cameo yesterday he brought more control, quality and focused attacking intent than the rest could muster in 90 mins. This despite the fact he looked totally pished off
