Jack Stobbs

Forgive any ignorance, is he still at Port Vale, or injured?

Im disappointed to see he has not progressed and has even been over taken by other youth team players who are now getting a chance in our first team.

Is that we have needed cover in those other areas and as an attacking midfielder we haven't needed Stobbs, or is it just that he's not really done it over hte past 12 months.

Was sure he was going to be a player at one point!

He appeared in the cup for Port Vale so on returning he was cup tied but could play in either the Sheff Utd game or the Cardiff game, as Wallace is on the pitch and Boyd on the bench it would be a bit over kill to have 2 right wingers on the bench, when we are not even playing a formation with wingers but full backs. So unless Jos revert to his usual 4-2-3-1 then it is unlikely he will get a lot of game time.

The one i don't understand is why Wallace keeps getting played he add nothing to the team and is being played as a central midfielder.

On a positive note, at least we remembered where he was....

So he was re-called with the intention of being played at least.

20 now. Needs to make his breakthrough if he's going to. One of the U23 star players in winning league last year. Captain as well i thought? Strange.

Shame we didn't do what Liverpool have done and install clauses that he needed to play x amount of games or Port Vale pay a fine to us.

He has no luck.

Was on the verge of a break through a few years ago but suffered a bad injury.

His loan spell was a bit of a disaster, from what I read in the Loan Watch thread. Didn't Port Vale go through several Managers and are struggling at the bottom.

Then he comes back to this injury crisis, which has given the young lads a chance, but now we've changed to a 5 3 2 and don't play a Right Winger.

:picnic:

He was the brightest academy spark in 2014, when our academy was pretty poor.

We've moved on from that now, Stobbs isn't the shining light anymore.

Thought he shone pretty bright last year in the title winning side. Didnt he captain the U23s?

He's a year or two older than the likes of Penney, Kirby, Clarke, Waldock, Lonchar.  Fear his time here will be up in the summer.  Needed a good loan spell at Port Vale like Clare did at Gillingham.

We recalled him to play in the FA cup game at Carlise only to learn that he was cup tied... lol

He only came on after 93 minutes of the first round tie! So he only featured for about 2 minutes of the entire FA Cup and probably didn't even touch the ball!

He needs to go out on loan again IMO

If there aren't any League 2 sides willing to play him regularly, then we should find a club in the National League who will

He needs those 15-20 games of senior competition that he didn't get at Port Vale
