ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST....

Hanley no loss. He has four years of his vastly overpaid contract to run so would expect either at least a four year deal or a big pay rise. Let Norwich blow their parachute money on him. Dean more of a loss, only last week London press had us down as the team to come in for him whilst Brum were linked with Flint.

To be fair I've seen it quoted that van Aken will cost us as little as 3 million euros or anything as much as £5.5m. It's almost as if journalists are plucking numbers out of the sky...

Even a Dutch paper that quoted the higher figure suggested it could be considerably less. I'd be very surprised if it was the higher amount unless there are add-ons based on appearances and such like.

Not bothered about Hanley.Another carthorse like Darren Purse was.

Imagine the Van Aken fee will be something like £2.5m upfront and £5m when promoted to the Prem.Probably a common clause for a lot of top end championship sides.

However, when you take into account his ridiculous wages and the fact that he moves like a barge, it's probably a good job he's off to Norwich.

Most Wednesdayites wrote off Harry McGuire because of his lack of pace

Thats Englands Harry McGuire

Joost van Aken reported to be £4.5m seems very high when we don't have enough money to sign Mulgrew at £500k or Dean at £2m but we have reportedly £4.5m to sign a dutch center back who up to this week end we had never heard off. Maybe he is a world beater and we will sell him for £40m+ in a few years but would we not be better signing tried and tested Championship players. When we are promoted and have more money we then risk the foreign unknown players then buy him then.

Maybe we're expecting to receive a big fee for someone in the next couple of days?

So when we wanted him he is £5.5m but when he goes to another club he costs £3.5m, is this paper speculation or do other clubs negotiate better than us.

We signed Venancio on loan not bad business not seen him play but we get to have a look for a year and see if we want him on permanent basis. Maybe i am speaking out of turn but there seems no logic to the transfer dealings tried and tested Championship players are deemed too expensive but foreign players costing double are not.

I think the big thing will be the relative wages.

Hanley will likely have had a huge wage increase moving to Newcastle, where he was dropped after playing poorly and then wasn't first choice for the second half of the season.

It's quite possible we liked the look of him before that move, but his poor form and the necessity to pay him higher wages than we would have if we'd got him straight from Blackburn have now put us off.  Not saying he won't be a good player for Norwich, but there are more red flags now than 12 months ago.

At that price it might look good business, after we were quoted 6million at the start of the window...

Really like what you did there Crosby

With the Norwich /Barge thing

Tell me are you a Hoseasons man or a Blakes man?

And most importantly are you related to the famous Blunketts?(legendary groundsman of Hillsborough stadia)

Is DC wary now about tried and tested championship players, after all we've got Abdi & Rhodes on our books and I doubt we'd get our money back on either. Hanley couldn't get in at Toon and their defence was hardly watertight.
