Loads of clubs have spent more than us and not got promoted. They must have had really crap managers

They have. Which is why we should be happy that we haven't. CC knows what he is doing. Top six two years on the bounce. Let's back him to get us there this time. If not I think he will call it a day anyway

Don't really know that do we ?

Its a pretty logical observation IMO.

A quality manager, the likes of Sean Dyche for example, would have had this squad promoted with ease.

And wouldn't have spent 35 million quid, therefore wouldn't have us worrying about FFP.  Hypothetically of course...

But its not pretty logical at all because there are no guarantees a Sean dyche or any other guy you wanna mention could do for us what he (dyche) did for them,or any other manager did,its as you say "hypothetical" so not actually based on anything other than an opinion.

If we sign higher quality strikers/midfielders, we have a good chance of scoring more goals.

If we sign higher quality defenders/keepers, we have a good chance of conceeding less goals.

If we sign a higher quality coach, we have a good chance of winning more points.

All of the above are logical statements.

we have a good squad as it stands and if the purse strings have to be drawn in then it's not the end of the world ........there's no reason the squad we have cant make the top 6 .where's the problem with we have to sell to buy it's how the transfer system as worked since football began especially at our level .

Have we? Because any injury to Lees or Loovens and we are screwed. Left back is still a weakness and there is no pace in the squad. Other than than that its ok.

Personally id be happy with Charlie Mulgrew that was talked about, Our Back 4 over the last few seasons has been solid what we need is our Midfielders to step a further 20 yards up the pitch to dictate the play.

We don't need to spend a fortune to improve our squad but we might have to if we want to improve the actual starting 11.

If we release the shackels (the accusation of many a fan on here) we have a good chance of scoring more goals.

If we stopped conceding silly goals (based on some of those from last season) we have a good chance of conceding less goals.

Based on last season,we won more points than the season before.

You're not a Carvalhal fan,i get it,but to just simply assume that changing managers will turn us in to this side that would sweep all before it,is not based on anything other than an opinion.

Completely bonkers.  We don't even play to Rhodes' strengths which makes it even more bizarre. Our transfer business and overall strategy since the play off final defeat in 2016 has been very poor.  We had a very good side, it needed some fine tuning and we have consequently spent tens of milllions on a load of players and our subs bench is now even better.

Fixed it for you.

We're supposed to be looking for players who know the Championship. Trouble is if they are in the Prem, they expect big salaries even if you can negotiate a good fee with their club. If the player is in the Championship, everyone is up against each other and either asks too much or won't sell to a rival or they have parachute payments and either don't need to sell or buy the talent that is available at over inflated prices and wages.

Hence why most clubs now seem to look to Europe for players and most likely why we now seem to be taking Djourou on board. I think to keep FFP within bounds, we'll see players from abroad come in as its better value. Mind you if we are looking for pace, some good players in France that would help there.

Apparently at last night's fans forum Carlos was quoted saying he's 'not sure' if the club could pay a transfer fee -  as we are at the edge of FFP...

That makes the £10m for Rhodes seem even more reckless, especially as we'd just bought Winnall

Looks like we really need to offload.  Hope it's not FF

Didn't "Sky Sources" say we'd had a £3m bid turned down for Morrison at Cardiff?

If true then I'd say we're not that close to FFP limits.

If true, it makes you wonder why Chansiri has priced out the corporate crowd and is content with having 60% of executive boxes sat empty for games - surely it's worth our while to sell these out?

The merchandise strategy also leaves a lot to be desired. It's got to be worth exploiting these revenue streams to balance the books?

I'm sure there's reasoning behind it considering Chansiri runs multi-million pound businesses.

To be fair to @kevtheowl you mention in your opening post that it looks like "we really need to offload", yet Carlos doesn't mention anything of the sort.

Where did I say that Carlos said it was time to offload. Its quite clear to all but the most numptiest of numpty that was my opinion. Unless you think Carlos also suggested the signing of Rhodes was reckless, and that hes worried we'd let go of FF
