Clearly, a player of that ilk would greatly enhance the club's chances of promotion and that would be a win-win situation for everyone at the club. The worst case scenario is such a player goes to another club and helps them to promotion at your club's expense. Football is not like any other business. Sometimes you need a tail in the team, look at Nigel Pearson. He won't be a Darren Purse for whoever signs him. He might end up a Bournemouth or Brighton. Cahill lost years off his career playing two positions covering for Terry. if I were a Villa fan, I'd be disgusted. A publicity signing, not one roger given to actual team building.
