Next season is Joao season. From our strikers he's the only one with pace and the ability to glide past people. He can easily have a season like Kodija or Abrahams. He's cut from the same cloth .

Now here we have a striker with everything. Pace, mobility, trickery and can finish when confident as proven away at Brentford and home to Huddersfield - quality finishes.

Yet for some reason our fans have written him off. He's never been given the run Rhodes has been given or the support. Joao would have scored more than 3 had he been given Rhodes run. He needs support from the fans and coaching staff because if he gets going there will be no stopping him.

Give him the same support as Rhodes, have we not learned our lesson with Antonio.

I predict Joao will blossom this year.

Were you at the Reading away game?

He was awful and didn't even look like a non league striker never mind a top end championship striker

if if he was that good he would have been first choice at a struggling Blackburn but most of his appearances came from the bench

we need to cut our loses and get rid, the same goes for Matias as well

As for Rhodes, given a proper run in the side, not 20 mins here and there, will score goals for us. He also needs a constant partner and not being constantly rotated and swapped about

I like Lucas for his bursts of energy, his willingness to play deeper and find a pass in the build-up then run on, and the way he throws himself at anything in the box which has resulted in a couple of goals for nearby strikers standing off.

But he's such an odd player to try to make room for - a big quick lad who acts like a small slow one, a target man who seems more comfortable trying to play like a little number 10, and a CF who always looks much more comfortable outside the box.

WHAT IS LUCAS JOAO

just gone in a time portal and landed back to last summer exactly the same was said....

Joao fans go on about this potential he is meant to have, he is nearly 24, he should be moving into his prime years, he is not that young anymore in terms of a footballer,

attributes he has in parts, consistency he lacks in abundance, if we could get rid and get a million for him that would be great.

Sorry Rocket..

next season will be Jordan Rhodes season, he will be out to prove a point and all the doubters wrong

Why does he get a chance to prove doubters wrong and Lucas doesn't?

He has already done more in a wednesday shirt. Is not in his prime yet and has more to his game then the limited Rhodes.

Seriously someone get a stat of Rhodes last 80 chanpionship

starts to goals ratio. If he is to be given the support then Joao should benefit from the same.

Rhodes gets a chance because over a period of time he has proved he is the best striker in this division, he goals speak for themselves

the same can't be said for Joao

So in order to show our support for Joao we need to withdraw our support from Rhodes?

WTF:

Is someone going to do a list of 'in' and 'out' players before each game cos it's going to get very confusing otherwise!

lol

Dont forget Rhodes had only played about 3 hours of football before he joined us Not sure he'd played a full game. if he hasn't stepped up by Xmas I'll agree with you

Joao, without doubt, has the potential to become a top, top player.

At times, he has looked a really good player...almost unplayable when confident and on song. Unfortunately, he's become a victim of our scattergun transfer policy...and as a result, simply hasn't had a look in.

I'm a big fan of Nuhiu...but Joao is a better option than him. As for Winnall...not fit, technically, to lace Joao's boots.

The OP has got a point. Potentially, Joao could be a very similar player to Kodija, and should be have the type of impact, Abraham has had for Bristol. I know a lot of fans have wrote him off, but for me, we'd be crazy to let him go (on loan or permanently). Lose Winnall and Nuhiu, and let's go into the season with Hooper, Fletcher, Joao & Rhodes as our four strikers.

How old is he now? How many more chances/ time should he get?  There comes a time ...

I remember saying he deserved last season to prove himself.

But he hasn't improved in any discernible way, been injured etc etc - we see the same old pattern so many times.

There may be potential but we won't see it...lower Champ at best.

Time me to sell.
