Lets see if these players fancy it on a cold ,wet november night in Burton

I hate that expression. "Messi couldn't do it on cold, wet night in stoke" load of rubbish.

Nowhere does it say it was a PL player.

Nowhere does it say it was a defender.

This is how unfounded rumours start - some of you have your eyes painted on lol

So you would assume its a non English based player, (even though Carlos says thats not our market) and not a defender even though Carlos has stated its our priority) !, Unless you think a player wouldn't want to move up to the championship. ? Honestly some people, like nothing better than being pedantic, and slagging others off  lol

Bet there's a few clubs looking at Dean if he's only got a year left.

He was a rock at Hillsborough last season. Won everything in the air and made a few important blocks.

Aye, he's a Brentford player, which automatically makes him one of the hot topics of the league. You could pretty much get a raffle of their matchday 18 and pull out a name and chances are they're being watched with a fairly close eye... top talent over there at a good age and on relatively small contracts wage wise. Just so happens that Dean is one of their best players.

Be interesting to see what happens with him... doubt he's shown enough for a Prem move but at the same time pretty much any club in this league would take him and there must be at least 8/10 clubs he'd happily move to for the relatively huge wages that'd be offered. With only 10 months left on his contract, Brentford will know they've two transfer windows to get the best possible price they can. Their chairman's a smart cookie, he'll get them millions with plenty of juicy promotion and sell-on clauses. As for where or when he goes... I can't help but feel he'll stay in London. Fulham would be my guess, despite the rivalry.

Derby County are set to sign Leicester City forward Tom Lawrence, according to the Derby Telegraph.

The Rams are being seen as the favourites for the 23-year old and may sign him for a reported £7 million (yes, there still is some sense left in the Championship).

Lawrence was loaned to Ipswich Town last season, where he had the most successful campaign of his career. The Welshman scored 11 goals and assisted as many in 39 appearances across all competitions, as he was named their player of the year.

Rowett's assembled a heck of a side this season without spending silly cash. They're going to be a force again this year are Derby

They've signed 2 defenders and a defensive midfielder. Hardly "assembled a heck of a squad".

Wisdom > Christie

Huddlestone = Hughes (Not long term, but Hughes has stalled these last couple of years)

Davies > Anything they have at back currently

Lawrence = Ince

They've still got a fair few million to play with before they even break even on the money they got for Ince and Hughes, let alone anything else they may have had to play with in their transfer kitty. Rumours that Matty James will join... they won't stop doing good deals just yet. I'd tip them for a play-off spot with a manager that makes his teams very difficult to beat

league has certainly improved next year, have we though?

That's true but same could be said before last season started and we ended up finishing higher. In a similar way, the same could be said for Brighton before last season started, they stayed stable and didn't make many changes like us this summer and they went on to finish in the top 2.

We have brought lots of players in the past couple of years, we've already got a top 6 level squad. Adding Boyd improves that, a couple more quality players like him and we'll be up to top 2 standard I reckon, and not making many changes unlike most of the other contenders should be an advantage for our chances.
