Shifty Powers
I personally like Reach. As I've said before, he adds a bit of balance to our midfield and fits our system nicely. Id get him in the gym over the summer - get him beefed up and he will be a decent winger as he is technically very good. Sadly few on here can understand a work in progress, cos we are all impatient, I can understand it, cos I feel more or less the same way myself. Carlos Carvalhal did himself no favours by getting us to the play off final last season. D.C has upped the prices because of that, and expectations have risen because of these dynamics, so you can't really blame Owls fans for the impatience we seem to show for such as Reach to get up to speed. In my opinion its unrealistic in truth, but in the hype that is football, is wages, and is the POTG prices, its somehow expected. At Hillsborough, you have a crowd thats been watching rubbish for years, and a team of both management and ownership that have more or less just arrived through the doors... Patience is at a premium, and Chansiri is baffled by the fact that we shirk at prices that are in our eyes, totally f.ookin' ludicrous...they look at our impatience after only a year and a half, and find that just as ludicrous. The balance between this ludicrousness seesaw is held only by performance on the pitch...once that dips below, the knives are out, the boos resound, and we resent paying £35. We then get the pitchforks out for "The highest transfer fee player" player,............. burn Teales Bentley on Wadsley common,.... and reach out for f.ookin' Reach. I honestly think we may just miss out this year, but I don't want Carlos out, simply because he's got us up there twice on the trot...Its like throwing 3 darts for a double...After this year, we really ought to let him throw his last dart

Some people on here don't understand systems They don't understand that Carlos has found the way to get out of this division is not through free flowing expansive football, but to follow Burnley, Middlesborough, and Hull's plan which was built on a defensive framework. All three of last season's promoted teams soaked up pressure, they often let the over side have possession, then they would hit on the counter Both our wide players, Reach and Wallace, spend most of the game protecting their fullback I hear a lot of people talk that other teams have found us out, this simply isn't true Carlos has found the division out Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife. Swiss Toni
McGugan hasn't played regularly under Carlos and therefore don't think he has a future here. Was good for us for a season but that's about it. As for Reach I actually like him and think he'll only get better. He doesn't shy away from the ball and doesn' plenty of defensive and midfield work. Just probably need to see more of him in the final third in terms of assists and goals. He certainly gives the team balance.

Think your right, Carlos is getting us to play a less expansive game built on defence
Lord Snooty
Reach's price tag won't be weighing the lad down. Grumbling from ourselves might though eventually. I can only hope the lad is some sort of luddite technophobe, because 10 minutes on line and he'd probably really start feeling the pressure. I'll readily admit that I was hoping to see more from the boy in an attacking sense. A natural left peg on the left combined with my love of dinosaur football - getting crosses in, meant I was keen to see him. He hasn't done that as much I'd have liked. But ....let's be right here, you don't have to be a footballing genius to see that the lad is running his blood to water every outing he gets. His shirt is drenched every game with all the charging about. With our 442 were often outnumbered in midfield and those lads in there are getting through an absolutley incredible amount of defensive work. I'd like to see him more advanced and concentrating on just attacking, and I've no doubt the lad feels the same himself. But at the moment he's been given a a different sort of job to do for the team and he's doing it. He might not like it. We might not like it. But hes part of s jigsaw at the minute that is getting results. Good on him.
Guest Kagoshimaowl
Reach is such a hardworker and Carlos loves that. I just haven't seen anything yet to suggest he is a good winger. McGugan has quality but goes misssin games....a quality that Carlos doesn't tolerate.

I think the guy averages a goal every 5 games over his career from midfield yet can't get a look with us when we're crying out for something a bit different. People have him down as trouble but he was at Forest for 6 years before he left and they wanted him back when he left Watford for us. Doesn't sound like they thought was trouble. I'm in the same opinion as this to be fair - McGugan has upset Carlos in a way, other than refusing to play in a position which is the rumour on here .. must have? Everyone bangs on about his attitude but where are the actual facts or talk? I've not heard any manager moan about his attitude like some have done about players. Posters on here use it as a stick to beat him with and say he's crap or whatever and has a crap attitude without actually knowing anything? Socialist_Owl
Reach is the player that can grow and really turn into a quality Premier Leaguer. Out of anyone besides Hirsty (and now Winnall), he just oozes the most potential at SWFC. Complaining about his price tag is utter bobbar. McGugan's best days are in the rearview. OwlofOliveGrove
McGugan is a shame because I think he could have a part to play in Championship promotion....but not with the current system, so he has to go. Reach will come good. Don't blame him for his transfer fee. You can see he has potential, just needs the fans behind him and the confidence will increase to go forward more. torryowl
mcgugan ...a waste of time and money reach ....... is one of them players who works hard and does ok without really achieving any end product ....
LoadABallacks
Can see a lot of potential in Reach, but I've found him quite frustrating as of late. Not sure if it's lack of confidence, or instruction from management but the number of times he picks the ball up out wide and his first thought is to go backwards is starting to annoy me. Is looking more like a left back each time i see him. As for McGugan, it's not even worth discussing anymore. He isn't going to play.
camffiti
On the pitch ... McGugan has proven himself to be good enough Reach has yet to do so Lets see how it plays out
MallorcaOwl
There is no doubt that Mcgugan is a good footballer, but he either can't or wont fit or in to the system/philosophy that Carlos demends from his team. He needs to be moved on. Reach is also a good footballer, he is fairly new to the team, Carlos has asked him at times to play in 3 different roles, it is a credit to him as a team player that he has done this. He is worth his place in the team, and will improve over the remainder of the season.
Crack pot
Think people give reach to much of a hard time, yes he's over priced but people need to forget the price he came for, plus he's been played at left back a lot when he's a winger and when he's been the winger pudils never offered really good defensive support this season
adelphi1867
It easy, football fans every where need a scapegoat and at the moment Reach is that, till some one else comes along.
Sultan_Pepper
Talent: Both got what it takes Attitude: Reach will be a Premier League player. McGugan will be a League One player either on his next transfer or the one after.
Beholder
Reach is a team player..Bit like Lee in that respect. Not the winger I expected. More of a hard working left midfielder. Woud like to see him take more responsibility in an attacking sense though. He seems reluctant and would rather pass to someone else.
