We need to make sure SWFC doesn't ever do this

Recommended Posts

Just take a  look at the owners of some of the Clubs - you wouldnt trust them with your life savings would you.  You will never get rid of greed. Big Sam - £3 million a year - his dream job - but still can't resist making a quick buck. Then has the cheek to blame the newspaper for exposing it !

Did Allydace actually do anything illegal? Or did he just break rules which have no legal power?

I'm a little confused if it's a police matter or not.  Not read any of the newspaper articles on the grubby little story.

When sky were interviewing the FA guy (Glenn something) they actually kept saying that he (Sam) hadn't broken any rules or laws. I think it just doesn't give the right image, a guy telling someone how to get round his employers rules.

I'm irish so I don't know a whole lot about the English manager but as an outsider looking in what I don't understand is why the fa mutually agreed to let Sam go and paid him over a million to get rid when they should have sacked him and made a strong statement that this isn't going to be tolerated and whoever thinks bout doin this is in the same boat and ban them from management cause there are some good decent managers out there who only do it for the love of the game and not the money imho

Oh i quite agree, you get paid millions but still want more?  Getting paid to watch the biggest clubs in the world being feted and grovelled over.  But it's not enough.

The thing for me is that the FA either knows this stuff is going on and has turned a blind eye, or it genuinely has no idea in which case it has been massively incompetent. Then given the current criminal investigations into FIFA and Uefa non of this comes as a surprise.

The game currently stinks from top to bottom and it's time something was done. Even if that implicates our own club.

I guess, as Sky stated ( see post before yours), that he hadn't yet broken any Laws and was only guilty by association.

As I work at the Telegraph (Don't judge me), think thats it for the Champ, the prem is yet to come. Might get some lower leagues but only as in between stories. Staggering out the news so the paper can dominate headlines for weeks, and I be they try and time everything for the weekends games.

From what the rumours are, its mostly the type of characters that wouldn't surprise you e.g Cellino.

As much as I wholeheartedly agree with the OP, we're not immune. For example, the SWFC players' betting scandal in the 60s.

I do hope we haven't, and never will get involved in anything underhand again. Keep football clean!

I was very pleased with the clubs when we turned down payday loan company sponsorship. I might be out on a limb here, but I wish the same could be said about betting! I don't understand how an industry which is based around making sure punters lose more money than they win has been allowed to gain such a strong foothold in football. Football's not horse racing. I wish clubs (or leagues!) weren't sponsored by daylight robbery companies. And it sours my experience of Hillsborough to find betting inside the club shop. The club shop is a great way to bring young'uns into the SWFC pack - and I don't appreciate having to explain that buying gear is okay, giving away money to a business with no return is not!
