Quadzilla
See what the ginger ninja has to say Neil Lennon has also waded into the Mark Davies debate. Will be putting a story up soon. #bwfc #swfc— Marc Iles (@MarcIles) January 15, 2016 I can't think of anyone I'd rather not hear from
Buxtongent
Sounds like the old WW1 adage:- Whisper - 'Send reinforcements , we're about to advance' ends as - 'send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance'
full fathom five
I don't see anything wrong with that. Line up alternative targets incase your main target doesn't work out. No different to a player speaking to several clubs before deciding which to sign for. Exactly, why should we as employers always let the players and agents always call the shots. Guest wilyfox
Maybe they've got an alternative we can have :) I suspect that is what's happened. Not necessarily the Doyen bit, but Wednesday switching to an alternative target.

SwintOwl
Looks like we're happy to just keep the players we have. Hopefully that'll mean hooper extending, altho from reports at Norwich it's not looking likely atm.

nevthelodgemoorowl
So on Wednesday Lennon couldn't comment as he hadn't seen Davies since the previous Thursday. Now all of a sudden he's all clued up !

nebneeb
Everyone does that, but if they have had a few about to sign on the dotted line having gone through all the due process and then binned them off outof the blue because they changed their mind, messing people about doesnt help credibility. Its all only heresay and stuff from Nixon, but he was suggesting we had left a few people upset in the summer . I thought it mustve been a committee thing But being hard to get a contract with makes us more desirable... Basic human psychology of wanting what you can't have. fredmciverslovechild
They could have said no. Does seem a bit shabby from our end too though tbf Or perhaps Davies himself let something slip whilst he was being jollied on Tuesday night about his injury record which made us think Bolton weren't being entirely honest. Two sides to every story.
Triple O
There is more likely another angle to this. When given permission to talk to a player and any fee has been agreed it is common that the medical records of the player are requested at that stage as this could halt negotiations at an early stage. Of course, just like any future employer in other jobs, the individual has to give permission for these to be released. From what has been said by agent and Bolton we have not seen these. This doesn't mean we have not requested to see them. So, and just a theory, have Bolton/Davis/Agent been holding back on supplying these medical details because they knew it could be a deal breaker and were hoping he could just go to a medical which would have limited tests? Perhaps any reticence on their part cause a re-think.

Suzuki_San
He's played around 160 games for Bolton since '09. You look at Kieran Lee for the same period, and he's had 100 more. That's not the best appearance record...its not like he's old. This is probably for the best.
