shandypants
I'm not sure if it would be gravel, will most likely be sand. Drainage blankets containing gravel are usually single size to maximise permeability. A sand would act as a good drainage medium, allows for formation level to be created. Either way I'm interested to see the final product - can't wait!!!! 😃 This sh1tt is trippin'

Woodseats Owl
Gravel, Drainage Blankets, Top Soil, Lateral Drain Spacing, Sand, Permeability ? Enough of this technical nonsense, what grass seed are we using and and when can we start to watch the grass grow. UTO's

peggyowl
At stage 2 I think Installing a hybrid grass pitch: step by step Step 1: Bespoke pitch design Put together an installation team (hybrid grass specialist, local grass expert, external advisors, club owner, etc.) Define requirements (climate, architecture, use intensity, applications, etc.) Step 2: Prepare the underlayer Excavate the ground layer and install the drainage system Lay down the top layer of sand (enriched with compost) Step 3: Seed the natural grass Select the grass varieties and seed in consultation with local experts If necessary, using sod (rather than grass seeds) can be used to accelerate the installation process Step 4: Inject synthetic fibres Computer-driven Desso machines inject 20 million artificial turf fibres 20 cm deep into the pitch 1 artificial turf fibre every 2 by 2 cm, maximum fibre height above the ground is 2 cm Step 4 can also be schedule prior to step 3 Step 5: Symbiosis between natural grass and artificial turf Natural grass roots intertwine with the synthetic fibres and grow deeper Anchoring the natural grass to create a level, firm, and stable playing field

mike84
Weather permitting, it should be fine with 4 or 5 weeks growth. It'll be watered regularly if required and I assume we'll be using the growing lamps overnight. I'd hope Mr C will have purchased a lot more of these. I pass the SuFC training ground every morning and their pitches had been re laid and re seeded 2 weeks ago and there's already grass on them all as I passed this morning. A month and a half is more than enough.

Hicktonshatrick
I'm sure there are enough owlstalkers out there with a few growing lamps (if you know what I mean) they could let the club have for a few weeks to give the grass a boost.

mike312
I've got loads of blue grass in my garden. Self seeds like nobodies business. Look nice with a blue pitch!

TheEnchanter
I think it'll look fantastic, the stands right on the edge of the action and the perimeter all new and blue. The scoreboard and the new pitch itself. Plus some better players on it. Can't wait in all honesty.
