Palmer and Westwood not good enough

Recommended Posts

Palmer hasn't put a foot wrong recently

Weirdly Westwood seems to be dropping a few b******s which are costing us

Mainly unlucky today tbh

The main concern was that we didn't make them pay for the first half hour when we were dominant

Palmer  had a solid game today, and has improved a lot. As for Westwood, come on???? 1 Bad mistake and he's not good enough?? Best keeper in championship for me!! Bit of a silly op !!!

What about if its 2 bad mistakes in the last 2 away games?

Westwood has cost us points at Brentford and made a serious error of judgement today that probably cost us the match. However, he was the only one to have come out of the play-off final with his reputation intact and he has been very reliable over the past couple of seasons. Very harsh indeed to be calling for his head.

Westwood occasionally makes some great saves, but his distribution is generally not good.
Palmer has shown over a long time that he's not good enough.

Both need replacing in January imho.

Out of interest, how many games have you based this opinion on? Do you get to see a number of games over there as you don't have to worry about UK TV sport laws.

TBF so far Westwood doesn't seem to be the player he was last season, be that loss of confidence or just believing he's irreplaceable I don't know, that said, talk of getting rid (unless he wants to go) is a bit premature IMHO but giving him a rest for a couple of games or so might not be a bad thing, our up and coming "home grown" might also benefit...

Thought Palmer was solid today

Maybe should have covered off the player who scored the winner (the ball was lofted and in the air long enough) - but he was a minor part of that f*ck up - and he could legitimately argue he was holding the defensive line - but because of the way the ball was being set up by Birmingham it might be tough to convince the jury that was the right decision

But a decent game from him all in all

Westwood had headloss for the first goal but blameless for the winner

2 games and 2 mistakes would be enough to say Westwood should be dropped and replaced in January???. He's been solid for us in the past. He is one of the best keepers in the league, and to want rid of him after today is moronic .

Don't know what you're drinking in Norway or if we've nicked all the cod but either you're off your head or trying to get a bite.

I honestly think people are singling Palmer out for blame simply because they're used to being able to do so. I saw some clown on Twitter doing his 'ratings' giving Westwood a 6 and Palmer a 5 despite the latter ostensibly being to blame for the first and arguably the second goal to some degree. Palmer did well, absolutely unjustified for people to be saying 'not good enough' about a player who is improving.

As for Westwood, simple fact is that if his distribution was top notch he'd no longer be at Hillsborough and may never have arrived in the first place. I'm not saying we should simply tolerate players with weaknesses but at this level, Westwood is better than pretty much anyone else in the league nine times out of ten. He's had a couple of shockers this season so far but it would be moronic to have some sort of knee-jerk reaction and attempt to replace him, as there's every chance that could go completely boobies up.

Palmer put the ball right on the Donkeys head  , Westwood dropped a bullock  but if big Dave managed to get off the ground it would have been a win .

He won the header FFS. If he didn't hit bar keeper would have saved it. He never got chance to pick a corner.
