Popular Post Nero
https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/barry-bannan-calls-on-sheffield-wednesday-to-end-cycle-of-contract-uncertainty-doing-more-harm-than-good-4579070 "I've not heard anything," he said when asked if he had been offered a new deal. "I think it's just a case of knuckling down for these last six games and what will be, will be. "It's not a nice situation but I think as a club going forward we need to learn from this and make sure it doesn't happen because it's happened the last few seasons now. It's not a good situation. "We had a talk after the Huddersfield game and that was one of the topics I brought up, it was a case of not being selfish and putting the club first. "If you can get the club safe, your negotiating power at the end of the season, whether it be here or elsewhere is a lot stronger in the Championship than it would be as a League One players. "But listen, we're humans and everyone thinks different. It will probably play a part. "I think as a club we need to make sure this never happens again.” So cutting the crap - Bannan is saying that now we are coming towards the end of the season - players (probably some) are not putting it all in because they haven't been kept in the loop on where they are, think they aren't being treat fairly and think that they are probably being binned off at the end of the season anyway. A great way to go into a relegation dogfight. Nobody knows what they are fighting for. Motivation is fkd and Röhl is scuppered because players arent putting 100pc in. Well done Chansiri. 47 1

HopefulOwl
Its been pretty obvious for some weeks that they don't care... why would they... most will have been told they won't be here next season and why would they put a shift in to save us from relegation... Great work DC.
briggowl
That's about right, they're all well overpaid based on the average wage league tables (imagine we pay more wages than Ipswich or Sunderland for this shower) https://footystats.org/england/championship/salaries Trouble is you can't blame DC for not wanting to commit to players who earn so much and for the most part underperform. I guess DC doesn't have confidence in his own ability to negotiate better deals for the club and so has done nothing. And here we are, players not really fighting, makes sense. 3

Popular Post striker
It's bound to be a factor, whether subconscious or not. Bannan, Röhl both saying the same thing today when asked. This is typical of the lack of structure and professionalism under Chansiri. There shouldn't be this amount of players out of contract, it does impact performances. The way Chansiri runs the club is so amateurish. I get that he's been stung in the past, but if you are professional in your recruitment; have a strategy, or at least a basic plan, then don't need to hedge your bets on contracts. That starts with employing proper professional football l people and putting in place some kind of football infrastructure. mark1948
Nothing at all to do with our League One quality players hoping to be re-hired on relegation knowing that they are out if we stay up? 6
WalthamOwl
What an absolute mess. Just do one Chansiri. Pathetic owner and business man. Edited April 4 by WalthamOwl 4

No new contract for Baz now, Chansiri can't deal with criticism. 1

They'll be re-hired by a football club either way, whether that's Wednesday or not, and the level each will play at will depend on how the managers in the Championship view them individually. I don't think relegation is good for any of their careers.

No. We have 16 players out of contract this summer with apparently no sign of discussions regarding extensions taking place, even with our club captain. If you look at this situation and blame the players, then I'd say you're missing the big picture. 15 1

TheSlicer
Everything that’s wrong with this club is Chansiri. I don’t blame the players for not wanting to get injured when their contracts are nearly up. Take the blue and white tinted specs off and none of us would.
TodwickOwl
Some players will have agreed contracts already elsewhere Marvin Johnson looks like he’s down tools already It’s going to happen - can you blame them? It’s a joke the way we manage contracts 4
