WAWAWUTO17
As of Friday, Championship clubs will be able to make 5 subs in a game. I think this is a terrible idea and again it will be an advantage to the clubs being relegated.
SiJ
Completely agree. Given some of the recent things that have been going on with operation powergrab (bigger picture), Rick Parry and the like, I do wonder why the EFL and Championship have been so keen to get this brought in (again). The cynic in me thinks/fears this is the Championship teams kowtowing to the top 6 PL sides, who have been very vocal about the 5 sub rule. By doing this, they help the top 6, putting pressure on the other 14 PL sides to vote through the same.
FreshOwl
I think with all the things wrong with football these days, this falls bottom of the list. An extra 2 subs. Woop tee doo. Sure some feel different though

@owlstalk
EFL STATEMENT Following consultation with Clubs, the EFL Board has agreed to increase the permitted number of substitutes to five in all Sky Bet EFL fixtures taking place from 12 noon on Friday 20 November for the remainder of the 2020/21 season. Regulation 33.4 has been amended to permit: Championship Clubs to name up to nine substitutes in their matchday squad, with five permitted to take to the pitch in any fixture. League One and League Two Clubs to name up to seven substitutes in their matchday squad, again with five permitted to take to the pitch. 1 Owlstalk Shop
Prince
Hopefully see more youngsters coming through and getting time in games even if it's just to see out a few minutes.
Tommycraign10others
It will be interesting to hear what Tony Pulis thinks about this in this weeks presser. Can’t help but think this favours those at the top especially the recently relegated with the bigger and deeper squads
sethman75
YES!! Finally we can bring on impact subs to change the game........o wait
FlyingOwl
I see it as a good temporary move whilst the schedules are what they are for a lot of teams, the lads didn’t have a proper pre season and things are all just a bit weird. Also means more youngsters getting a sniff at the first team. Yes, like everything, the top teams get an advantage. But that’s nothing new.

OriginalAlien
I don't see what the objections are to this personally. We could've done with this when Tom Lees went off injured in the 90th minute recently and we'd already used our allotted 3 subs.
pazowl55
Everybody has what 9 games in 29 days or something like that. This to me seems like one of the more sensible things the EFL have done

mattitheowl
Designed to reduce injuries which we could well have done with assistance with from the start of the season for sure! 1 Just not bothered...
83owl
Not great for us given our squads garbage. We need it to go the other way really - no subs and 5 a side teams then we may do okay.

It don't mean they will get used though. Teams want to win matches and these extra subs are only really there to prevent muscular injures in players not to give teams advantages tactically. And that will help every team out.
