Popular Post Tommy Crawshaw
We all know our home form has been abysmal this year. Well I was bored and had a look back to see how it compared to the last 75 seasons since WW2 and yes depressingly it's bad. I was a teenager then and I'm sure there are many of you like me who can remember the long winless run at home in the 1974-75 season in the 2nd Division. We failed to win any of our last 12 home games and were relegated. We drew the first home game of the 75-76 season in the 3rd Division, then won the second v Wrexham 1-0 for our first home win after 13 games without one. That was the worst winless run in the last 75 years and amazingly despite some poor seasons in that time, the current run of 8 home games without a win is the next worst. That run of 14 home games over 2 seasons in '75 consisted of W1 D5 L8 and guess what our current run of 14 games is exactly the same W1 D5 L8. We won the 15th match in '75, so if we fail to beat Brentford in the next home game we will be on our worst run of results over 15 home matches since the second world war. Another stat is number of home wins in a calendar year. The lowest has been 4 twice, in '75 and 1999. In '75 it was from 20 home matches spread over Divisions 2 & 3. In '99 it was from 17 matches in the Premier League, we were also relegated as a result. In 2020 we have won 1 from 13 home matches and with 9 to play before the end of the year need to win 4 of them to avoid the record of lowest wins in a calendar year. Obviously goals win games and since we've only 6 scored any at home in 13 matches this year, it's not surprising we've not been winning. The last time we scored more than 1 at home was v Brentford 7th December 2019, so hopefully that's an omen for the next home game. 8

Owly Mowly
It felt bad - but didn’t realise exactly how bad it actually was.

Guest
Yes but don't forget Monk's got all this baggage from the club to deal with . Blah blah blah

At least we’ve dispelled the idea that it’s the fans that make us play crap at home. We simply don’t have the creative players to take the game to the opposition.

I reckon most fans would have gone with the “fresh start” and a bit of patience from the beginning but by now those who didn’t would be getting very loud. Winning at home makes more fans actually happy. It’s a buzz, a feelgood factor, folk walk back to their cars or the tram etc smiling. We need to get that back somehow.

For thousands of fans home games are the only time they see us live. If we’re to stay up then the home form needs sorting pronto.
Popular Post S36 OWL
Monk has a worse record than Jos and this just backs that up, but I'm sure one of his supporters will be along soon to try and defend that record
room0035
So from the last 75 years you have discovered than we are on course to have the worse home record in 75 years unless we can win 4 of the next 9 games. We have win 5 in the last 26 so I think that's unlikely. But Monk will still be here because he is the best manager ever. Unless you look at his ability to manage, motivate players or win games then he's not very good.

I would get two strikers and two wingers who can cross a ball that would be a great start.

Ronio
If Monk wants to win the fans over, then he needs to start winning games. Sod the PR and the rest of it. Just win the games needed.
HarryPlopper
Most fans would want Eustace back to take over from Monk, to be quite honest.

I'd counted an FA Cup win in the middle that 10 match run. Strangely we didn't lose in our first 11 home games, then as you say didn't win in our last 10.
