Can we or will we appeal?

Recommended Posts

I thought we had 2 weeks to appeal? The statement saying the club want to read and digest and response from the panel will probably take that long anyway. Just accept it and move on. Sounded dodgy and immoral from the first time I read about it. If it were any other club you’d expect punishment.

Yep appeal. We’ve been done on the 3 year P&S rule nothing else. Precedent was set with Birmingham 9 points NOT 12. Cant have inconsistencies in this or it will be totally unworkable going forward.

We can appeal but, reading the EFL statement about the deduction relating to the dates not being correct, it seems a completely pointless exercise.

Without the ground sale we overshot FFP massively and -12 is the correct punishment. They’d have to effectively break the rule to decrease, or even increase, the points deduction.

The result is far better than I hoped for.

The letter from the EFL obviously wasn't as concrete as SWFC suggested.

We've been banged to rights:

- Hillsborough isn't worth £60m.

- D Taxis and various other shell company scams never existed.

- Back dating your accounts because you've broken the rules, and still not gained success is just plain stupid.

What can we hope for if we appeal? An increase to 21 points this season?

Time to move on, hopefully...

We have been found guilty of selling the stadium and backdating it to the previous years accounts to try and avoid breaching FFP.

Incorrect. We've not been done on that hence why the punishment is bigger.

Also Birmingham got some knocked off for holding their hands up from the start. We clearly haven’t done that. We’re lucky when you consider they’ve not found us guilty of trying to mislead the EFL.

Not according to the EFL site. We have had the ground sale backdating disallowed but have been found not guilty of trying to hide this or do it with any malice. Therefore the sanction is simply for exceeding the P & S limits for the 3 year rolling period. Now exceeded due to the sale being removed into the following years accounts.

So, in effect, same as Birmingham.

No, the statement says we’ve breached profit and sustainability for 2017/18. That’s what we’ve been done for. They've disallowed the sale of the ground in those accounts. So we’ve not been done for concealing the sale or that the sale was illegal, they’ve simply said that sale should not have been included.
