Have said it before, our problems are in defence more than up front . We are on a bad run due to some absolutely awful defending. There is no doubt at all that Wickham is an upgrade on all the current fit forwards, and the other two will hopefully do a job as well, but until we start defending properly again we have no chance.
key to our season now is borner, iorfa, lees, Palmer , Fox  finding form and fitness again. We will achieve zip defending like we have for the last 6 weeks.

A front line of Wickham, Da Cruz and Forestieri looks full of possibilities Quite simply, none of the current wide men, Murphy, Harris and Reach, offer enough goal threat Only Murphy gets anywhere near a reasonable goals per minutes ratio.

Wickham and Fletcher upfront if Fletch can get back fit in time would be a handful for defenders, Da Cruz, Windass, Forestieri buzzing around. Doubt we'll ever see all of them but would have some threat at last.

forestieri who? he can't get picked now.

IF he's gonna play a part, he needs to be picked.

Team be fair Murphy and Reach have both been  involved in our last 6 goals scored.

Nobody has slagged him in this thread . A couple of decent loan signings doesn’t hide the fact his running of the club is poor at best

came in with zilch experience, little worthwhile support of any good, no continuity within the stripped down club.

it was a hell of an ask to start with, then he sacks gray off.

Yeah, but it’s not enough, which is probably why we’ve struggled, particularly Reach Those sort of goal returns are not acceptable, especially if you are sometimes operating in one of the forward berths

None of the loan signings have had much football of late so will be interesting to see how much they feature today.

No confidence at all in Nuhiu, Winnall, Rhodes so hoping 1 or 2 of them start.

Last roll of the dice to get us back in the play off picture. It can be done just look how far we have fallen down the league in just 4 weeks. Got to believe we can climb back up.

Knowing our luck we will get 6th and then get hit with 15pt deduction!

Don’t think Wickham or Windass can be involved

For anyone moaning about the Windass signing, it wasn't long ago we were taunting our neighbours with songs about our signings and their signings.

Maybe rather than 'marquee ' signings we need hard working team players that will work to a managers plan. Then just maybe we can start moving forwards. Let's give them a chance before we write them off.

The reports are his weakest attribute is team work.  I wouldn't bank on him grafting and guaranteeing 7/10 every week  but hopefully he will bring an x factor.

Players better put a shift in today.

only concern is - we were looking to sign someone before fletch was injured so we’ve not actually done what we needed to

Certainly Fletcher’s injury meant that we had to find an experienced replacement, but maybe Da Cruz and Windass are what we needed? I don’t know anything about one, and very little about the other, but if Da Cruz is a fast striker that can run beyond the target man, then that’s one problem solved. People are saying that Windass is a skilful number ten, who can play in between the lines, so that will also be useful, no?

Were only defending so much because it's not sticking up top. We've started to let goals in since we lost Fletcher.

you should listen to the monk interview yesterday it gave an incite into signings and without naming the players who wont play for us again. monk don't just players out of a hat like carlos pretty much did ,he says he has monitored cruz knows about his attitude/work ethic and sent our scouts to watch him ( wilder does the same thing at the stain looks at a players attributes ,will they fit in, work in style they play/system) im sure that wickham and windass will be same , we are going to need 2-3 years before the club is properly right on and off the pitch ,the damage done by carlos signing players blind without doing the full checks like what monk has done and bruce would also do . lets give monk a chance its not about todays game let him have chance to put things right on pitch and a full summer to get his own players in , if by next xmas we aint top 10 then he will be judged on that . the carlos lovers do one.

To be fair, Carlos said exactly the same, even about Rhodes, when it was abundantly clear he never wanted him

I don’t agree with that at all.

Our possession isn’t much different post fletcher than pre fletcher but we are making terrible defensive errors. You could have rush and Aldridge up there in their pomp and it wouldn’t make a difference to the basics of defending neglected by borner and lees just this week.

Will FF ever feature again, he needs to sort his head out if so, there has to be a place for fletch when fit, losing him set the rot in, don't know anything of da cruz if someone could enlighten me.

I expect the loans are a view to a permanent signing in the Summer. If so, Wickham would fetch roughly the same as Rhodes did - maybe a bit more, as he's under contract until 2021. He's 27 next month and a 3-yr deal in the Summer might be his last peak deal. He must have thought about his future and whether it's inevitable he'll have to drop down  a division, and if so which club he'd like to be at - the desire to come to us and answered that last part so it's whether we could afford him in the Summer

This will dependent on whether we are under any embargo with the EFL, and how much cash we are expected to free up.

Signing Wickham on a transfer with a sizeable salary will take up probably a fair % of the cash available to keep us within P&S moving forward. We will no doubt see if this is worth it over the next three months.

Windass is different, as this is the type of player I expect we'll be in for in the Summer. Whilst again his contract expires in 2021, I would hope a small undisclosed fee would be agreed, subject  to him settling in a turning out some decent performances.
