Won 2nd balls, closed men down, passed the ball quickly.

Complete opposite of the midfield Saturday.

Why Monk thought Bannan could play the deeper of the 3 midfielders I will never know, he lacks the defensive side of positional awareness, excellent when going forward but very poor when there is space. In congested areas, ie under the cosh, it doesn't get noticed as much as there are other players close.

Rightly or wrongly Monk must have asked him to play there.

Monk has said since he came that he wants to see Bannan be more defensive.

Whether anyone agrees or not... it’s what the boss is asking him to do.

Against Blackburn, after 20 minutes, I asked my dad to let me know when Bannan attempts one tackle.

He made one block which went out for a throw near the end of the game.

Not a single tackle was attempted.

Fair enough, you might not be happy to be played in a different position, but how many people would give their proverbial right arm to play for Wednesday and absolutely give it their all?

It was almost like he was asked to play deep and downed tools

He’s wayyyyy off.

Not even getting close.

Even the one positive contribution - the tackle he made - was making up for his error (positional, got caught between press and contain)

No he has done well

put the hard yards in

Dawson can be no 1 for years just needs to tweak his game a bit
