Form since Jos

And the most mind boggling thing of all were the posters who backed him and said we were all living in the past.

To be fair, Jos wasn't without virtue.

Yes, dropping Westwood goes down as right stupidity, but there was something nice about many of the kids being given a chance. In contrast, under Carlos we were often playing crocks who weren't interested, hardly giving the kids a look-in.

Still, bringing on Kirby to defend a 2-0 lead against WBA with eight minutes to go...

Worst in my time, Danny Wilson a close second. Both suffer the same faults, cannot manage the bigger players.

Can one of the old boys confirm if Eustace or Burtenshaw was worse than Jos?

Burtenshaw was hailed as next big thing - had been a successful coach at QPR or summat - trouble was he suffered from two ailments, a charisma by pass and a bad side. He left, unlamented.

Eustace is a more problematic memory - absolutely superb player - single handedly dismantled the great Leeds team at Elland Road in the Cup once. He took the job to do us a favour but by then we were reduced to signing has beens like Wilf Rostron from Watford. As Jimmy Greaves said - “Pete - you’re bottom of the league -  Wilfy is a solid pro but will it be enough?” It wasn’t.

However, besides being unsuccessful, there were also rumours of bullying or at best Neanderthal training methods and it was no surprise he didn’t last.  Sad the last memory of his career at S6 is discoloured by all that.

On Soccer Saturday, they mentioned we had only lost 4 times since December. I couldn’t believe it! A great run of form.

I do worry about the reaction on here when we do lose one. Toys everywhere, prams scattered around the floor, cries for Bullen's head

I am too young to remember Steve Burtenshaw but think Eustace inherited a team that had got stale and combined with poor man management skills.
He seem to have a big falling out with a different senior player every week.

Past is the past.  Looking good for SWFC, in spite of all the drama.   The Players themselves seem to have taken a personal interest, tired of being considered "junk" and Bullen isn't averse to letting them play how they probably always wanted to play...ATTACK. Even the Wednesday Defense attacks, they don't play "possession."

Great example of playing to your strengths.

Even if Pep came to manage us (you heard it here first - pile on at 10,000/1) he would not want a back five of Westwood-Iorfa-Lees-Borner-Palmer playing ticka-tacka across the 18 yard box.

I agree totally. With Iorfa/Moses, Palmer, Lee, Reach, Bannan, Harris, Murphy in your side you will excel in attacking.

As if we needed any more optimism. Here’s the form of the current Championship teams since Jos left us:-

1. Wednesday P26. W12. D10. L4. Pts48. (GF37. GA23)

2. Brentford     P26. W13. D6.  L7. Pts45

3. WBA.           P26. W13. D6. L7.   Pts45

4. Leeds.         P26. W13. D3. L10. Pts42

Followed by Hull, Bristol C, Derby, Boro, Swansea

Don’t see this as a stick to bash Jos. Better to look at as confirmation that our start to this season is not a blip.

Furthermore, in Harris, Murphy, Luongo and Odubajo, we have improved our starting Xl and the squad depth over the Summer. Our weaker players have either left or moved considerably down the pecking order.

Disclaimer - past performance should not be used as an indicator of future performance. Sheffield Wednesday fans should seek specialist psychiatric advice before investing expectation or hope.

But all the experts on here tell me we're a mid table team at best.

Given that we were sleepwalking into relegation when Jo’s was finally sacked, that form, of only four defeats since it’s quite remarkable. Even more so when you look at the upheaval of Bruce’s appointment and departure.

Guest Jack the Hat

Season before last he got us 20 points in the last 10 games. I can’t help but think he had a different brief than Bruce. I think he was told to squeeze the big earners out and bring through the youngsters by DC but when it went sour he was the fall guy. Whatever happened let’s just put it behind us and move on. Thankfully lesson do appear to have been learned.

It’s hard to believe that Gillian Anderson was worth one once

was ... still is if you ask me!!!!

Jos's time was a difficult tenure ..i've no ill feeling to the bloke. He started off well, we looked solid and players coming in to form - have to remember too that we had a lot of players out injured as well and not being able to spend much - bought 1 player - Pessy

There must have been something else that went off over last summer resulting in Hutch and Westwood being benched ... surely can't have been the manager leaving out 2 of the clubs best players? Tasked with reducing the clubs outgoings while working on a budget using his experience of this from his tenure in the B2. But we'll never know unless Jos comes out it in an interview. Would love to hear his thoughts on it all ..

BUT we move on ... we are in a better position now anyway in terms of players and lack of injuries

I just like Bully's man management.  Comes out in praise of Reach and the 'unseen work', 'teams need players like him and we're lucky to have him' - clever and no doubt boosts Reach confidence at a point where he hasn't pulled up any trees or scored any wonder goals for a bit.

Jos was just bitter cos he looked like Roland Rat and Westy and Sammy have gorgeous locks.
