So would I, not going to happen though is it? But someone like Gray, been about abit, connections in the game liked by the players. Not sure Bullen and what we have now is good enough

Bullen is ok when things are going ok..when up against it he won't be..we need a manager..he is a coach..

Everyone has to start somewhere. Bullen has had three managers to learn from. He’s done his coaching badges (no Irvine pun intended) and he knows the club and players more than anyone.

Sometimes it’s right place at the right time. I back Bullen.

Wonder why he didn’t start at a lower league club then?

Championship is not a trial run. He would be found out in 3 weeks

The problem is that today ex-players don't want to serve their apprenticeships.

They want to walk straight into a job in the top two divisions.

Look at Lampard.

I guess they're so rich these days that if they make a hash of it they don't care.

In the past players needed to work after they retired, so they couldn't afford that luxury.

So Bullen hasn't served his apprenticeship then?

The guy has been part of our coaching staff for several years.

Completely different to Lampard who walked into a high profile job without any previous coaching experience.

Coaching, yes.

Absolutely.

But management is a different matter, a different job description.

You start at a club like Boston United and work your way up, like Smith, Wilko and Evo did.

Lampard won countless trophies, played under some of the worlds best managers and was an absolute monster of a football and a leader in the dressing room.

Think the way he went straight into management at a decent club was very brave considering many ex pros turn to punditry instead.

I wouldn’t say United had a ‘siege’ mentality. They might played on being underdogs a bit but they went up because they were incredibly well drilled, fit and used there players correctly playing to their strengths. Same as Norwich, same as Leeds, same as Cardiff the year before. You’d do well to create a siege mentality in this league, no one else is going to care one iota what you’re up to unless you seriously stir the pot somehow. Essentially we need the best manager we can get. For as much as I don’t mind Bullen and think he’d do an OK job, to give ourselves any chance of making the playoffs, we need better than him.

All true.

But management is a different animal, Sally.

Bobby Charlton, for instance, tried his hand at management and it didn't work out for him.

Will Ronaldo, as manager, ever lead Real Madrid to European Cup glory in the future?

Maybe, but it's by no means a given.

I don't see him serving his apprenticeship either.

He'll be given a top job and it'll either work or it won't.

I don't believe Bullen will be the right appointment but this situation reminds me of the time Mandaric appointed Stuart Gray. It's common knowledge Mandaric wanted Warnock but had to bow to fan pressure and abandon that move. While all this happened Gray quietly went about making a serious claim for the job and the rest is history. You could argue that Gray left the foundations for Carvalhal's two play-off finishes? Could history be about to repeat itself?

Gray was respected as one of the best coach's in the game I pretty sure Bullen wouldn't be sought after in the championship if he left Wednesday

........and at exactly the same time Big Jack retired from playing and went to Middlesborough who he led to the title in his first year and established them in the top league having a career in management that lasted 25 years.

Some people are just born for it, but unless they get the chance you never find out.

It beggars belief that some of you actually want this to happen.

Is it about wanting this to happen or is it about being open to options. For me and it's not about Bullet it's about trying something different instead of joining clubs like Boro hiring the same merry go round managers for the next 10 years

If I had to choose then Cowley would be my option

Yes "Big Jack" a respected international who'd worked and played for some of the worlds best

A bit different to Bullen

My 13 year old girl would have done the same and let's face it, it gave the rest of the team a Philip at the same time.

Bullen only had to face one challenge and that was when we lost to Burton 3-0 and he bottled it

I'll never forget that hes got that in his locker !

we must never forget megson and stevenage, but have to forget bullen and burton.

Stuart gray would be a great signing and I'd rather have him managing than Bullen

stuart's time may have passed, we don't know that for sure, I do feel he would be a VASTLY better appointment than bullen.

however, I don't see dc swallowing the amount of humble pie it would need to trip back almost 5 years and reappoint gray.

his defence was a MASSIVE part of carlos' 'success', as 'we must never forget our defensive record under carlos in the first two years'.
