ReginaldD
I stand corrected from my previous post if we went down we'd still get a solidarity payment but it'd go from 4.3 million to 0.6 million https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/revealed-how-much-relegation-league-14319139
Rebowl Yell
We won’t get relegated no chance. If it weren’t for the ref we’d have beat Villa and be 10 points clear and now that we are out of the ‘who gives a FA cup’ we will put all our eggs into the league basket and soar up into around mid table. We’ll finish around 11th IMO, incidentally 2 players higher than the blunts who will free fall down the league now.

To be clear I now do not think relegation can be positive in the way I imagined. Reg has blown me away with the use of facts and figures! Who would of thought that possible on OT!??

Yep basically the drop in income of about 5 million and players still on silly contracts would be a recipe for disaster. Fletcher alone has another 2 years on his estimated 40k a week deal, very scary!
Aingarth
If we were relegated yet again, I think I am out. It would make it the longest the club has ever been out of the top league (well this period since 2000 already is) and without doubt the worst spell since I started going to games in 1955. It is looking unlikely that I will live until we get back there, if we ever do. We have had two golden chances to do it and last season, our attempt in the play offs was pathetic, we didn’t even go for it. Through mismanagement of the medical and treatment side of the club, we now have many of our main players injured. So all those who who wanted a rich man to own everything, welcome to what you wished for. 1
nevthelodgemoorowl
If you have some youngsters coming through. If you have your first team on reduced contracts commensurate with their relegation. I you are being relegated from the premiership. If you have two or three stellar players who have signed pre contract agreements. If you have the parachute money flowing. Then yes, you could benefit from relegation. No way on earth can you ever benefit from going into third tier.

The way the club is being run at the moment it would be a f*****g disaster. We have not got anything right on our much heralded 150th, why would we possibly turn it around in three short months? Erm I wouldn’t say no chance and the pigs don’t look like free falling anytime soon, oh and we didn’t beat 12 man Villa because we didn’t put our first half chances away, apart from that good post.
handworth52
Relegation would send the club to the wall . Stuck with players who we couldnt get rid of .financial armmagaddon. . Look where coventry and Portsmouth are . There is your answer.
matthefish2002
You can make a very good case that the club benefitted from relegation in 1990 as re grouped, had best season for years and came back stronger. But way finances have gone with TV money etc you have to say would be a disaster to go down.
Mr Farrell
Forget whether we get relegated or not. The main thing now is just to enjoy our Anniversary celebration year, as they don't come around very often. I think it was a brilliant idea of the players to play like they are 150 years old. Great stuff. Happy anniversary all.

Jim
We wouldn’t survive a third relegation to the third tier of English Football this century because understandably IMO it would be the last straw for many fans. Due to finances I’ve stopped going this season and I can’t see myself having the enthusiasm to go again even if I could afford to if I’m being totally honest. We are screwed with FFP for a few years. We will not be able to compete with other clubs in our division for wages. We will need to use either our youth players, invest in promising cheap youth players from other clubs or try to find bargains from other leagues around the world. We require a complete rebuild of the squad. In League 1 we will be able to play a majority of youth and they will have a better chance of winning and developing. If we play a youth team in the Championship we have the danger of losing a lot and damaging players confidence forever. You learn how to win and how to lose. As a bonus I'm hoping that some of our expensive useless older players will either have a relegation release or a relegation pay drop clause. Could we be that lucky? Match day income would be almost the same, we would be better off. Anyone ITK about high paid failures contracts? So crystal ball time..... if we are relegated we play youth in the next season, they gel, they win and we are promoted back to the championship with a young but experienced side that is used to winning. We then get back into the Premier League at the first attempt and are clear of FFP;) It could happen !!! There's only a few holes in my argument . Biggest hole is getting promoted from league 1 at the first attempt not an easy ask and any longer in the pub league would destroy what little is left of this club.
