Could we benefit from relegation?

I thought we'd benefit from relegation from the Premiership in 2000. I thought we could regroup, rebuild and bounce back the following season.

 

18 years later.........

 

You've only got to look at the Blunts struggle to get out of League 1 to realise that an immediate return to The Championship isn't necessarily easy.

 

Relegation is greatly overrated.

Were we to go down, our "star" players would want out.

 

They may even refuse to play.

 

It would be a Di Canio situation all over again.

 

We'd have no choice but to sell them.

 

Other teams would be able to get them on the cheap, and use the money saved to put to their wages.

 

We would lose millions and millions of pounds.

 

Relegation can only help if you've spent nowt, and even then it's debatable.

We only have one 'star' player and he seems to be on permanent holiday
