Or the players weren't actually that good, and Carlos had them overachieving

We'll see when they return. IMO we are missing them chronically.

First season no. 2nd yes that team wasn't good enough for 4th place.

I'd say our strongest 11 is top 8-10 definitely. Just need to get them back fit and aim for top 6 next year. And hope we don't go down

I dont agree I think the full squad is still only top half not top 6 !

No pace throughout and they aren't getting any younger.

How many of our squad are good enough to play in the premier?

Not many, which is why losing last night wasn't really a shock.

Two seasons ago we turned over an under-strength Arsenal side, but then lost away easily against a strong Stoke team.

Looking at the top six teams in this division, how many of them are good enough for the PL?

We need an addition of pace, you're absolutely right, but I can't accept that a team which finished 4th has gone rotten in the space of 9 months.

This season has been about a play-off hangover and the worst injury crisis I think I've ever seen at any club.

So the Blades are better than us?

I feel safe posting this as I can't be negged :)

Would relegation be so so bad for us right now?

We are screwed with FFP for a few years. We will not be able to compete with other clubs in our division for wages. We will need to use either our youth players, invest in promising cheap youth players from other clubs or try to find bargains from other leagues around the world. We require a complete rebuild of the squad.

In League 1 we will be able to play  a majority of youth and they will have a better chance of winning and developing. If we play a youth team in the Championship we have the danger of losing a lot and damaging players confidence forever. You learn how to win and how to lose. As a bonus I'm hoping that some of our expensive useless older players will either have a relegation release or a relegation pay drop clause. Could we be that lucky? Match day income would be almost the same, we would be better off. Anyone ITK about high paid failures contracts?

So crystal ball time..... if we are relegated we play youth in the next season, they gel, they win and we are promoted back to the championship with a young but experienced side that is used to winning. We then get back into the Premier League at the first attempt and are clear of FFP;)

It could happen !!! There's only a few holes in my argument .

Are you looking forward to playing watford b in the checkatrade ? Or do you miss oldham and colchester on a tuesday night.

Please lets not go back there .

There would be no guarantee of coming back up any time soon. If anything good young players just move for even less money.

I don’t think the FFP situation is as bleak as some make out given that we have some pretty good players to either play or sell once they return from injury.

Me personally yes. Hopefully the glory hunters who suddenly gave a poo when DC came , the snow flakes who are constantly crying on here , hopefully they will all go back to lane where they came from

One of THE daftest things I've seen posted on here.

Think the only person that needs to go back to the Lane is you.

Our strongest line up would still, pretty much be that first seasons team It’s an alarmingly shocking indictment of our recruitment since Wembley

Not sure I understand this need for someone to 'neg' someone. I know some specialised in it they must be spitting feathers

but did it really put people off from posting nonsense?I think it egged some on to be outrageous in some pursuit of notoriety

Is it that hard to construct a coherent rebuttal ?

No , of course it isnt but as the vast majority of us seem to be sane rational people and the ability to merely agree or disagree has been removed. It is a ruddy forum after all.....

and even though neils removed it people are still posting nonsense, hence my original point.

some of the most effective posts require just a few words,  some of them don't finish with   ' off

What's that got to do with anything?

Unless you're a pig of course.

What I meant was, have they got better players than us when we're at full strength?

Could they withstand our injury crisis?

The answer to those questions is "no", in my book.

They've struggled with the loss of Cootie.

If that squad can be sixth, we're better than 8-10th.
