No Team Could Withstand A Similar Injury Crisis

Recommended Posts

The injuries are real and with so many 1st choice players out even the big boys wouldn't cope

SWFC                           Man City                     Man Utd                       Liverpool

Westwood                    Ederson                      De Gea                         Mignolet

van aken                      stones                        smalling                        Lovren

not for one minute saying our players are of the same quality but in terms of importance to us and there respective teams they are

but i guarantee that none of them 3 clubs would be anywhere near the top 4 if they had those players out for the length of

time ours have been missing

Carlos and DC did always say they wanted 2 players for every position and that's now paying off - we have a set of decent lower half of the championship players to fall back on. The only problem is Carlos never gave any of these players time on the pitch and they've been thrown in at the deep end - totally unprepared for what's coming.

I think many people are forgetting what a good first team we have. It’s  been that long since we actually could field it.

It definitely puts to bed some of the exuberant optimism we had a year or two ago when we were thinking our reserves would easily be a top half championship team.

And also the bloated squad, turns out we’ve needed everyone.

Just got to ride the season out and get a few back and up to speed and hungry for a crack at it next season.

Yes and You’ve missed out the main man, Forrestieri.

BUT The mess we are in now is ALSO the result of poor recruitment, every other team has pace in reserve but not us, we have slow second rate or aged crocks. We’re all trying to judge If Jos is any good but the hand he has been dealt is a stinker. His first recruit isn’t performing though which doesn’t help matters - Hope he comes good quickly.

Anyone due back in the next week or so?

It was always going to be a tough ask for Pelupessy to come in and hit the ground running given the environment he’s come from to the one he’s come to.

I think we’re more likely to see whether he and Van Aken are actually up to it next season at the earliest?

we certainly cant that's for sure ....I think the sides we've been turning out since jos arrived have done all that can be expected of them .

And it is proof, if any proof were needed, that so called "squad players" are there to backfill a maximum of two or three roles in the first team. They are not there to provide 100%+ cover when all of the first team is unavailable.

spot on ...I think there all decent players who can  do a job when drafted into the team but to play them en masse and expect them to do well is a forlorn hope .

Agreed

its common sense

the issue is not how a team would deal with it

The question being asked is what has caused it
