I don't know why people get hysterical about Jose staying on. He's obviously a great pro and I would think a fantastic influence in the changing room. He'll not be on a fortune and could be worth his weight in gold.

Because he's a league one hoofer and we are supposed to be aiming for promotion again

I posted on here at the end of the season

We will be able to tell if we're really going for it by what happens with Semedo

If we are going for it, Semedo has no place in the squad

If we re-sign him, well that should tell you all you need to know

True

Most people, myself included, think you sort the defence out first

Carlos sorted the midfield out first, then the strike force, now he's turning his attention to the defence

Seems a arse over tiit way of doing things

He's worth nothing to a team that wants automatic promotion to the Premier League though.

Whether he's a nice bloke or whatever is irrelevant now, its gone on for at least 2 years too long, he's League 1 standard squad clutter

Agree - I'm sure CC would not bring him back as one of the 2 centre backs he's after, give the the guy some credit.

He did sort the defence out first.... by leaving well alone.

17 clean sheets under Jack Charlton - owls record

17 clean sheets under Stuart Gray the year before Carlos arrived.

17 & 16 clean sheets in the two seasons under Carlos.

Im not saying we dont need to buy now, we do. but i can fully understand why he didnt 'sort it out' when he first came.

Managers who focus on defence first tend to get the sack and then the new guy gets all the plaudits for their efforts though.

There's an argument that CC has benefited from the same (inheriting Stuart Gray's defence), but I wouldn't go that far. And to be fair, our defence has been excellent the last couple of seasons anyway.

The defence with the clean sheet record in consecutive seasons?

Agreed, I suspect we parted on good terms, allowed him to have a look round and left the door open. Useful back up and players speak highly of him, morale goes a long way in this league.

When they were all fit, they were great

We've had injuries to Loovens, Lees and Hutchinson, we're currently playing friendlies with Pudil at centre half

So yeah, I think we need a couple of centre half's

Clean sheet record or no clean sheet record

And for my money, the reason we have equalled the clean sheet record twice, owes more to Westwood than anyone else

Good for morale

Capable in 2 positions

Will stay in top condition for the rare occasions he may be needed

Low wages, and (contrary to the bashing he gets on here) has rarely let us down.

Carlos knows his limitations. As a squad player on the outer reaches of the squad he's a good fit.

Not a problem for me.
