I gather you never go to live games then.

As you only watch it from one position and the players flatly refuse to do replays.

Pfft they show replays on the big screen, think you're the one who doesn't go to matches ;)

I had picked up on the having to be out of the country bit and maybe should have phrased it, I would be subscribing if I lived overseas but unfortunately due to the fact that I live in the middle of nowhere I won't be able to as I certainly won't be going down the vpn route to get round the rules.

Why not?

If Neulion is producing the streams, then they'll deliver.

They handle the superlative  NHL and MLS streaming packages.

The NHL streams are excellent. If they are of that quality I'm all over this even if it is only the 46 league games.

I very much appreciate those peeps finding out details and commenting on the quality of their experience. While it won't break the bank I'd rather hold on to my cash than spend it on a sub-par service. Waiting patiently to hear from those that have pulled the trigger already. Thank you again.

Had a couple of Emails from the club and received permission to post the answers here which I will :)

Hi,

I live in Sweden and am interested in the iFollow live broadcast of matches but am concerned about committing £110 in one go without being reassured of the quality, I read in the iFollow FAQ:

Q: What type of production quality can subscribers expect from iFollow?

A: Every iFollow service will have a minimum of a single camera. Each club can choose to enhance the streaming production with more cameras and audio commentary, if they choose.

So I'd like to get clarification on what kind of production lengths SWFC will be going to? Will it be multi camera with audio commentary for the live matches?

Regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the message.

Please be assured that the footage will be in HD quality with at least one camera. Beyond that, the club are looking into including commentary, but this cannot be guaranteed at this stage.

Hope that helps!

Kind regards,

Sheffield Wednesday

Hi,

Much thanks for your reply, are you ok with me posting it publicly as there's a thread where we're discussing iFollow here: http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/256224-ifollow/

Have to say I'm a little disappointed to not already have it confirmed that audio commentary is in place, us expats are being forced to pay £110 up front with a zero refund policy and we can't even do a trial subscription to check on the service. I used to watch the full matches that SWFC put on Player and that was single camera and nowhere near the quality of a traditional TV broadcast with it just being set in the middle of the stand and moving left and right so was hoping that SWFC would already be confirming multi camera for matches.

Kind Regards,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

First of all, more than happy for you to relay what the club have said regarding your email, however I would appreciate it if you didn’t post my personal details.

Extensive research from the EFL has shown that £110 represents fantastic value to allow overseas supporters to be able to watch their team throughout the season. Historically commentary subscriptions represented 50% of this cost and I’m sure you will agree that live pictures will make the service 100% better.

Regarding the actual commentary together with pictures, this process is not as straight forward as one would assume. For example clubs are unable to sync current commentary with overseas broadcast pictures without overcoming technical issues, something which we are exploring as we speak together with the EFL. We are hopeful of a positive conclusion but of course we would never wish to promise something that cannot be delivered.

There are significant cost issues in terms of an increased camera operation and whilst this is a possibility for the future it is likely that, to begin with at least, almost all coverage of EFL games will be a one camera operation.

Kind regards,

Sheffield Wednesday

Spoke to Commercial team at the club earlier and they've advised the Alfreton match won't be shown on iFollow..... I hope this changes by tomorrow because if the blunts could get a camera at Stocksbridge and broadcast it then anything is possible!!

So itll be the same as before watching any Sky type feed and listening to audio.

Rob and JP doing commentary and then itll be about 30 seconds ahead or behind the actual stream itself as they cant synchronise the two together.

First P+G will be  'I paid £110 for this tinpot service and i got Norman Collier commentary in HD, that wasnt even HD it was only 480 peeeeeeeeeeeeee'

1 camera with commentary would be fine imo. As long as the cameraman's not a student with bad eyesight and a twitch.

Won't get the emotional close ups of goal celebrations, but probably get to see a decent amount of the pitch and what people are doing off the ball.
