Just noticed this on the iFollow FAQ which is quite key:

I for one will want to know what kind of quality SWFC will be providing before I commit to £110 for the year, currently the full matches they record are pretty poor quality with a single camera and no replays, unless they add extra cameras with replays etc I'm not sure I see the point to watching the matches live.

Totally agree DC must have friends high up at Samsung that can sort us out with some premo gear to use to offer best service to fans :)

Well the point of it is so those living abroad can watch games live. I for one think it's amazing value even if it's one camera with no replay.

True, and yes at the end of the day there's a strong chance I will sign up, but it'd be good to know how much effort the club themselves are putting into it considering it's forcing overseas fans to pay £110 up front for a year. I emailed the club to ask, so if they reply then I'll update the thread.

Advertising HD video with no evidence of it being HD quality or even close ? Anything to back up their advertising claims ?

5. What will the framerate and bitrate of the matches be?

The live streams are intended to be 720p HD 30 FPS. All subject to on site streaming conditions, your internet connection and speed.

Yeah, it shouldn't be that hard though, eh?  To stream in 1080 and I'd be a bit dubious, but 720 should be well within their capabilities. It looks great on a monitor. Through Chromecast/or similar to your big telly, and it's going to look a little smeary.  But hey...beggars can't be choosers!

Signed up anyway, all seems to work so far after testing streaming a few videos currently on the site. Different ball game onthe day though...we'll see next Tuesday I suppose.  I'll make sure to pop in here and keep you updated.  I'll try to record 30 secs or so of my desktop, so you can see for yourself.

Bitrate is more important than resolution anyways, from the last two I downloaded it's about 4.8Mbit which isn't bad.

Just found out the friendly matches are not in and neither are the FA cup or league cup games.  Bit of a con if you ask me.

I gather you never go to live games then.

As you only watch it from one position and the players flatly refuse to do replays.

Terrible service if true.

Definitely true mate.  Just asked them and they said it's just for the 46 League games.

£110 for all league games that are not on sky is a superb deal. I live in Cornwall, which may as well be abroad when it comes to travelling anywhere and a round trip to Hillsborough costs nearly as much and involves 11 hours driving.

I will certainly be giving it a go.

The blunts had iFollow camera crew at Stocksbridge Park Steels and was broadcast online by all accounts so there is hope!   Emailed both iFollow and the club to confirm

They said some of the friendly matches may be shown but only after an agreement has been made with the club.
