StudentOwl Posted August 16, 2016 Share Posted August 16, 2016 Find this one slightly odd, but I guess the fact he's perhaps a little more defensive minded than Lee or Abdi suggests that he's direct competition for Bannan as the third man in that midfield who drops a couple of yards to try and dictate play deeper Still trying to get used to the fact we're more likely playing 4-3-3 than 4-4-2 despite how we line up on paper! Certainly an odd signing considering where we more desperately need players, but still a very good one... and as Stuey Gray once said "When a good player becomes available you have to get him, you can't necessarily sign players in the order you want them to- it's more important to get them through the door" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He's an all rounder in cricketing terms. Gone are the days where players are brought into our club to do one specific role. Your holding mid needs to have more to his game than just a spoiler these days. He can sit deep, put a foot in , dictate play, A good passer and also the added bonus of being a dead ball specialist. He will set in front of the back four, giving Hunt and Pudil more freedom to get forward and provide width. With Lee, Abdi and Bannan/Wallace all having fluid midfield roles in behind Forestieri and Fletcher. That's got to be scary for opposition teams, knowing they've got to deal with Foristieri, Fletcher, Abdi, Lee and Bannan all coming at them.
