Preference, superstition, 2 numbers adding up to make an unavailable number. The Wildsmith thing could be player preference or to give the lad even more confidence, even to raise his profile and value maybe?? The one thing I think most people have over looked is generating publicity. All these decisions which seem bizarre don't just get the beaks on OT flapping. Just look at some of the newspaper articles they have generated. People all over the country and even all over the world are talking about Sheffield Wednesday. There's a saying that any publicity is good publicity. This is only true to a certain degree (Ched for instance). Take a step back a moment. Some of these decisions are controversial for a reason....... DC is a genius. I'd like to think so but I can't help thinking it is somesort of wee wee tail up

Dick_Turpin
Right or wrong is a matter of opinion - it's just weird. How anyone can argue it isn't peculiar is beyond me.
Guest Kagoshimaowl
Embarrassing for the club that we are on the BBC web page for this. Just quickly change Fletcher to 9 and Wildsmith to 12 FFS! We are a laughing stock!!

Arthur Bach
Nobody ever played LMA Manager 2001? For weeks I'd be negotiating to sign Gabriel Batistuta only for him to be assigned shirt number 3 by default.

No, the pigs have numbers going into the hundreds. Sorry, just looked again. It's a list of managers they've had recently, not the squad.

farlego
Why? Surely 12 is only a 2 with a 1 in front. What about 3rd keepers they tend to have really high squad numbers. its something different that's all. Some people just don't like change.
