Manager of the Month

Recommended Posts

What and be cursed for the play-offs? No thanks!

Anyway isn't it manager of the season next? Hopefully then it will go to Hughton.

It's not a curse. A manager who has just won manager of the month wins their next game more often than they lose it. But that is never written up as a story by journalists. When a Manager of the Month does lose it is a headline. So this myth develops that it is a curse as people remember reading about it.

Results this season for Managers of the Month:

August: David Wagner, next game: Huddersfield win 1-0 away at Leeds

September: Alex Neil, next game: Norwich win 2-1 away at Wolves

October: Rafa Benitez, next game: Newcastle win 2-1 at home to Cardiff

November: Steve McLaren, next game: Derby win 2-1 away at Wigan

December: Chris Hughton, next game: Brighton win 2-1 away at Fulham

January: Jaap Stam, next game: Reading draw 2-2 away at Ipswich

February: David Wagner, next game: Huddersfield lose 5-1 away at Man City (or next league game lose to Newcastle)

March: Paul Lambert, next game: Wolves win 3-1 at home to Cardiff

So 6 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat this season - and some of those wins coming in particularly tough away fixtures.
