Ipswich v Owls. What Team would you START with?

Recommended Posts

They have a very strong midfield.

Keiffer Moore very strong in air.

Morsy, Chaplin & Burns strong.

Late Scorers too. Big crowd.

To START, I would go with this Team.

But Gassama +/or Musaba deffo on around 65 mins depending on status?

              Beadle

  Iorfa Ihiekwe Bernard

Pol Palmer Vaulks Marv

      Poveda  Bannan

                Ugbo

Might need to go 4-5-1 for this one, draft Palmer into midfield:

.................................Weaver.........................

.Buxton.........Purse...........Beevers......Spurr

Sedgwick..O'Connor..Palmer..Potter..Teale

..................................Mellor...........................

This, but Gassama in for Musaba.

Ipswich are a really dangerous side. I've been wanting us to sign Chaplin for the past couple of seasons.

Would Carlton Palmer put his kit on to help us then at Ipswich?

Danny...get him registered then.

He's a bit old I think. But I wouldn't mind seeing Heffernan off the bench.

Strong side as poss - we need some thing from this game.

It will be tough but they are not Leeds or Leicester.  They were L1 with us last season and have just carried on playing with confidence and discipline - attributes we could have done with!

If we go there and give them a game rather than be passive we are more than capable of getting a result.

Starting with only 7 subs might not be the best idea

But its still better than starting with only 10 men

We need to take the game to them and put their dodgy defence under the cosh rather than inviting them on. They'll definitely score, so we can't go in hoping to nick it 1-0. That's not going to work. We need to score at least 1 to take a point.

I'd stick with the flexi-4 at the back that's been working (obviously understand why it ended up more as a 5 when playing defence against attack for most of the game Vs Leeds).

But I'd shore up the LB position by playing Famewo in behind Johnson (a defensive liability that's better going forward, and never works well with anyone that's been tried in front of him)...

                  Beadle

Iorfa - Ihiekwe - Bernard - Famewo

           Vaulks - Bannan

Valentin  -  Poveda    -   Johnson

                     Ugbo

When attacking down the right, it could look more like this...

                      Beadle

        Ihiekwe - Bernard - Famewo

Iorfa  -  Vaulks - Bannan - Johnson

 Valentin - Poveda  -  Ugbo

When attacking down the left, more like this...

                      Beadle

  Iorfa -   Ihiekwe - Bernard - Famewo

                    Pol  -  Vaulks - Bannan

         Poveda  -   Ugbo   -     Johnson

And when defending more like this....

                    Beadle

Iorfa - Ihiekwe - Bernard - Famewo

Pol - Poveda - Vaulks - Baz - Marv

                      Ugbo

But it'll probably not happen anyway, so thanks for taking the time to read this far. 😁
